HOW HABITS SHAPE OUR FUTURE
Hello #scifimultiverse, I trust you are doing well. Happy new week and welcome to my blog.
Habits are repeated actions, whether positive or negative. Some people do not accept that some habits are bad. For example, some smokers would not accept that smoking is bad, even with the disclaimer that “smokers are liable to die young” written on the packets and cigarette sticks. However, some of them will accept that it is a bad habit they formed growing up.
While growing up, I formed the habit of using the restroom before eating or after eating. The thing started like a joke, but before you know it, I got used to it. Everyone in my family started complaining, and sometimes my mum would purposely ask my siblings not to wait for me. Before I came back, the food would have gone far, and on so many occasions she would not add more to the remaining food. That singular attitude and response from my mum ended that habit. It was indeed a very bad habit. That bad habit gave way to a positive eating habit.
As time went on, I started reading books and associating with other people. At some point, I came in contact with books written by wonderful authors such as “Brian Tracy”, “Myles Munroe,” “Joyce Meyer,” “Zig Ziglar,” and other beautiful authors. However, a book on goal setting, time management, and personal success by “Brian Tracy” taught me so much.
Initially, I did not set goals or yearly plans, but after I came into contact with that book, my life changed. I stopped living a freestyle life. I started living an intentional life, having budgets, plans, timelines, and SMART goals. Before long, it became part of me. I have formed an unbreakable habit. This amazes me as well. This is because most times, once my mapped-out budget is exhausted, it is difficult for me to push myself to tap into my saved resources, except if push comes to shove.

Looking at who I have become ever since I formed the habit of setting SMART goals and the impacts it has made in my life, such as self-control, wise spending, planning, and mitigating financial crunch. I would say that this habit has made the biggest difference in my life because it refined me from an uncontrollable and unplanned lifestyle to an intentional and organised living and budget control.
Finally, replacing one bad habit with a good one can change a person’s future, just like how forming the habit of setting goals, planning, and spending wisely has transformed my life to a better, intentional, and organised person because it replaced uncontrolled spending and unplanned living with a better version of myself where I prudently manage my resources well.
