I got there a day early to give myself a shot at recovering from jet lag and adapting to a 12-timezones-from-home biological clock (my body didn’t think much of the plan) and did a bit of exploring near the hotel:

River ferries are a quick way to get around in Bangkok, a city of canals. It’s a good idea to purse your lips; you sometimes get splashed and you really don’t want that water to end up in your mouth. Giardia, cyclosporiasis, dysentery, and typhus are not your friends:

Then outside for a catered lunch. As I stepped onto the artificial turf (which is apparently ineffective as a cushion for the concrete beneath it) to the right of the food line I used my klutz skills to trip and inflict a great deal of pain on my left knee (a month later, it’s still tender in spots):

Blurry graffiti I snapped a pic of while walking. Steemians were briskly heading to the next venue. I doubt that the artist has much in the way of experience with building snowmen, Bangkok has never gotten down to freezing:
