Yesterday when I went up to the terrace, I found a fascinating creature resting on the wire. I went near to it, expecting that it will fly away as it will sense my arrival. But to my surprise it didn't move 馃槃. So I observed it. It was evening time and so I was not in a hurry. I had free time then. So I thought I should try to click a few pics of this resting visitor. I took my phone and I captured pics of it from various angels. Some of them were perfect shots , I am going to share with you.

So this fascinating creature is known as Dragonfly, belonging to a group of over 3000 species of aerial predatory insects. Amazingly they are found around most of the world.
Since my childhood, i have seen them flying in the group in sky, at a low height. We used to play with them. Some naughty kids used to tie a thread to them at times. Oh I was not one of them but they used to play like that.
This one is a cropped one just to show that spectacular patterns in its wings. I never saw it before. Actually they keep flying in the sky all the time. Even if someday they are still, they fly away as someone try to go near to them.
This one I think, came specially for getting clicked. That's why it gave me a plenty of time to capture it's beauty in my camera before it flew away.
Even I never saw it so closely, later on while I was checking the pics, I was able to see all the details and the intricate patterns in its wings.
So Dragonflies are also known as Darner, Dvil's arrow or Devil's, darning needle. These other names like Devil's arrow surprised me a bit馃槃
They have huge bulging compund eyes occupying most of their head. Sorry that eyes are less visible in these pics as I was clicking from a lower point
Their wings are colored in many different shades and as you may see here that they have big wings, a large wingspan put them in the list of fastest flying insects. This one wings are colored in brown metallic color
in South America, they are also named as Snake doctors. Some people there believe that they help ill snakes recover. That is just a superstition. Some of their other names too have superstitions behind them

I love nature, everything is amazing in nature. The trees, plants, creatures all big and small.. How wonderful everything is! I feel grateful to live in such a location where nature is abundantly blessing me. May nature bless all. May nature bless all!!
