All Martinez could see was a room filled with half naked girls and a lot of drugs. From cocaine to heroine to whatever drug you could ever think off. Words moving around was that the boss was about sealing one of his biggest deal yet. Some America kid Derrick whose Dad had just passed decided it was right to throw a drug party for him. Martinez was more concerned on how all of this drugs would be moved to America where Derrick resides.
Don Pablo, Martinez boss had lots of connections, some dirty cops and all of that but Martinez knew that wouldn't be enough to get all of this drugs to America. So Martinez decided to ask around and he found out that Don Pablo wasn't the one who would move it into the country, as a matter of fact, the exchange between Derrick and Don Pablo would happen in one of Pablo's hidden warehouse then Derrick would transport the drugs himself into America. Martinez felt Derrick was either crazy or had signed a death warrant because there was no way that amount of drugs was going to pass through the narcotics dogs at the border unless there was another way in.
It's been three years since Martinez joined the El Nivea Cartel. He had to pass through series of test to become a member. One of the test included killing the son of Santos Diablo in his car, a drug lord and Don Pablo arch-enemy. They've both fought for control over the street of Mexico. Killing Santos son meant Martinez was never going to be a free man ever again, his life now belonged to Don Pablo as he needed his protection to stay alive.
Within these three years Martinez had found favor in the sight of Don Pablo, rising in ranks faster than others. Everyone loved Martinez including Pablo's daughter with whom he had a secret affair with. Everyone except Dimitri. Dimitri was Pablo right hand man. A Russian man who could sense danger from a mile away and ever since Martinez joined the cartel, Dimitri always thought there was something fishy about him. And that was why when he heard that Martinez was asking questions about where the latest drop would happen, he confronted Don Pablo with it.
"You've never liked him, I get it. But saying he could be a mole is way over the line. He was investigated even before he became a member of the cartel" Don Pablo defended Martinez to Dimitri's detriment.
"There's something he's not telling us, I can feel it in my bones. Please change the location of the drop and keep it to yourself this time, don't even tell me about it." Dimitri pleaded with his deep Russian voice.
"Nonsense, only cowards gets scared. I am Don Pablo the boss of the El Nivea cartel. Never has it been heard that I changed a location of a drop before and never will it be heard" Pablo said, slamming his fist on his desk. A sign that Dimitri was beginning to get on his nerves.
"Alright if you won't move the location, then at least do this.." Dimitri whispered into Don Pablo's ears.
Martinez noticed something wasn't right. There was a sudden emergency everywhere. It was as if the whole place was under attack but Martinez couldn't hear no gun shot.
What's going on Martinez asked one of the lady wrapping the drugs.
"The date for the drop has been brought forward"
"What? When?" he asked.
"Today" she replied as she expertly measured the drugs before wrapping it.
"Today??" Martinez thought, not believing his ears. It can't be today. There was no time. He had to do something. And with that, he quickly ran back to where he was coming from.
Don Pablo had agreed to Dimitri's suggestion of moving the date of the drug forward. That way if anyone was planing a bust, his or her plans would be shattered.
Derrick had first been alarmed at the sudden urge of Pablo wanting to close the deal earlier than expected but Don Pablo had said that the drugs were ready and there was no need waiting for three more days to close the deal.
Dimitri was in charge of transportation, he made sure everything was properly placed in the truck before they all moved out to the location.
Thirty minutes at the location, Derrick showed up with three briefcases, each handcuffed to the hands of the men holding them.
"Can I see??" he said motioning to the drugs. That was what Don Pablo loved about the young man, always straight to business.
"Of course" he motioned to Dimitri who quickly brought out a pocket knife and cut one of the bags open. Giving Derrick the chance to have a taste of what he was buying.
"All of it is here? All twenty million worth of it" he asked as he motioned to the men with the case to uncuff it and hand it over to Pablo's boys.
"One more thing" Derrick said as Pablo was about leaving "Aren't you curious about how I would move this to my place" Derrick asked with a nasty smile on his face.
"I don't care" Pablo said and started walking away.
"There's a tunnel that links Mexico to America, hasn't be used in years. I know right, I'm a genius" he said while laughing.
Just then there was a huge bang, smoke grenades filled everywhere as an helicopter light shone brightly on them.
"You're surrounded, do not move" a voiced boomed from a speaker on the chopper. But parties weren't ready to go down without a fight as they all started shooting.
Martinez quickly took cover. It was about time he thought. He had first feared that the deal was going to go through successfully with his team being late. He had immediately told them about the changed of plans that morning and had hoped that they wouldn't mess this up. He had been undercover for three whole years now waiting for a day like this when he couldn't finally bust the almighty El Nivea Cartel that has been troubling his country for years.
"Traitor!!!" Dimitri yelled as he fired shots after shots at Martinez who quickly dodged and fired a straight bullet to his head.
The whole battle lasted for an hour before both men succumbed to their defeats. Don Pablo couldn't believe his eyes when he saw Martinez speaking with the cops.
"Martinez?? It was you all along??" he asked.
"Yup. You going to jail Pablo and you won't be out in a long long time. And by the way, the names not Martinez" he said before walking away.
Back at Pablo's home, Margarita couldn't believe her ears. "Martinez, a traitor?" she was going to avenge her father, that was a promise she was going to fulfill even if it cost her her life.
She vowed.
