For me, there's no such thing as a morning person, I can be whoever I want to be.

Sometimes, we humans don't realize how many excuses we come up with (sometimes unconsciously) just to get out of doing certain things, certain things that might end up changing our lives for the better, if only we stop being lazy and get up on our feet to work for that thing.

I've always told myself that I'm not a morning person. I've said that to myself so many times times that I've successfully convinced myself that it's true. And so the earliest I wake up every morning is 10am and I don't even get up then, I lay on my bed, mentally motivating myself to get into the bathroom to go brush my teeth and take my bath while spending time on my phone.

Now I would say that I got lucky and that none of my school or work schedule falls in the morning, but that's a lie. I've just so much believed the "I'm not a morning person" jargon that I've cleverly found a way to place all of my schedules between noon and evening, leaving morning free for me to lay on my bed, doing nothing.

But I'm not God and things don't always go my way, which is how I noticed that I can be a morning person if I want to be, I'm just the one holding myself back. As a final year student, most of my lectures take place at noon but there are some days where the lecturer changes his time and asks us to come to school at 7am the next day.

Whenever this happens, I begin to panic and even set an alarm because I don't want to be late for the class. I hate walking into a class where everyone is already seated and the lecturer is already lecturing, because he might pause his lecture to humiliate me for coming late, and being the kind of guy that I am, I hate being embarrassed so I try to avoid any situation that would cause that..anyways, I digress..

So I set an alarm to wake up early but I've come to notice that everytime I do set an alarm because I want to go to somewhere important, I end up waking up multiple times before the alarm goes off, almost as if I have a separate alarm clock in my brain, constantly reminding that I have somewhere important to be.

So what am I saying? I'm saying that the only reason why I feel I'm not a morning person, is because I haven't added any importance to wanting to wake up early, which I plan on doing henceforth because of two main reasons. The first being that all of that time I spend laying on my bed could be used to do something productive, while the second reason being that I hate having to wake up and then some few hours pass and it's night again.

It's almost as if I'm sleeping my life away and I hate that feeling. I'm sure my dad will be disappointed in me if he knew I was living this way because back when I was at home, he would wake us up in the morning for no reason, and when we ask him why he does that, he would tell us that we're men and that as men, we should be up and early looking for something to do and if we don't have anything to do, we should just sit.

It was strange to me back then but I think I'm beginning to understand him now. So no more lazy mornings for me anymore, it's time to get up and work or just get up.
