May you all have a safe and enjoyable evening to bring in the new year. While every day is a chance for new resolutions and actions, I know many choose the upcoming day to be one of new beginnings. I hope that for those of you making such resolutions, that you make reasonable ones that are within your reach. Nothing breeds success more than victories, especially a succession of small ones.
It has been a wild ride here on the Steemit site since I joined last February. So many of you adding quality to my life that has a value greater than financial. At this point it would be fair to say that the financial side is still something I am waiting for. Despite the growth in my wallet, its value is less than my out of pocket purchasing of Steem. Yet, the generosity and love I have seen in this community, as well as the opportunity to tithe to a cause I love (familyprotection) is priceless. I appreciate so many of you, especially those of you who have been able to follow along with my posts despite the horrendous nature of the topics.
I am hopeful that this upcoming year will see many positive things happen for us. Apps that come in with solid business plans. With their own financial backing to run nodes and their own websites pushing this concept of Steem to heights previously unknown. In my ignorance of chains, it is beyond my understanding why this has not already happened, but enough of you who are not brainwashed to love Steemit.inc seem to believe it will happen to persuade me of its possibility.
As many of you know, my ministry is transitioning. I look forward to sharing in the upcoming year the victories with you, as well as reading of your victories. Your success is my success, which was part of what this system allows us to understand if one is willing to see it.
I write mostly on serious topics, as those of you following me know. I'm not given to small talk, or feigning belief in something. I am a reserved person most of the time, unless my passion hooks to a thing. So I have not been given to doing much in the way of contests, nor writing up rah rah posts claiming all is great in the state of Steem as it appears at times to burn down around us. I like to think that because of this, when I see something positive and comment on it, that those who know me take note of that and at the least scrutinize what I am mentioning to ascertain the validity of it.
I bring this up, as recently a project that stirred up excitement for me here hit some major bumps. That is the Dstors/Dcommerce project(s). I am unsure what will happen with their two versions of it, but I am hopeful someone with financial means (outside of delegations, using outside capital) will be able to transform this vision into reality. There is no larger cult today than shopping, and the chain that provides a sales venue for common folks to buy and sell using both chain money and fiat will set the bar for all others. Steem seems made for such a venture given the transmission costs and speed of transmission. A venue that while not being decentralized (they have to protect their investment obviously), will not play favorites and will not play at being a dictator to those who would use the venue. We already have sales venues with dictators that have monopolies. The key will be looking for what others want that the monopolies do not provide. Freedom is that service they are not providing. Respect is the service they are not providing.
