Happy Easter. A Time For Reflection On What's Important
Wishing you all a happy Easter. I know for those of you who celebrate, this year is providing challenges not normally seen due to the Corona. While many may choose not to participate in large family gatherings, or attend their religious functions, it shouldn't impact our appreciation and thoughtful reflections on the things we cherish, or how best we can make these things manifest for ourselves and loved ones.
While many who observe this holiday do so primarily from a secular perspective, the celebration of the gift from Christ is one that all can embrace and use as an example to better ourselves. The bible is full of practical truths for all, even those who reject the idea of God that it offers. One of the truths I feel gets overshadowed by many are the warnings of false idols. Many equate the warnings to some form of outright worship of demonic beings, other gods and such. While these are meant, the underlying reasons for them are not understood.
I have written before on binding ideas to ourselves, ideas and practices from these ideas that create a karmic cause and affect path. You can read/see many stories on the various forms of this. Many songs on this. The familiar story of the father who spends his time chasing money he has no energy or time left for his children. The song Cats in the Cradle illustrates this chasing of false idols path perfectly. Or the parent who indulges their children to the point of harmfulness out of chasing the illusionary idol of creating a perfect life for their child.
In much of the world, to some degree or another, money has become this false idol we chase after for various reasons. I have written before on our agreement with the money creators of the power it allows access to. The agreement itself being the real power behind the structure, despite the masses not understanding and believing it is the paper in their hands or the numerical printout from their banks acknowledging the existence.
The chasing of this idol has been the cause of many bad endings, and today is a great day to understand exactly what is important to us. The reasons we have granted such power to an abstract illusion (idol) to pull our focus off of what's important.
We have allowed this illusion to make us take for granted that the systems around us, such as the food chain will always be here to keep us from starving. With this crises affecting the world, by the day the failures of this are being exposed at greater lengths. Nothing should be taken for granted. Especially the ability to have food in our mouth, the people we loves mouth.
Now is a great time to reflect on steps we can take to shed the dependence on others to take care of what is important to us. Whether it be growing our own food (if possible) spending more actual time with those we love. Having the stability of heart and love to have gestures with others simply for the sake of helping, without a merchant approach as to what is in it for you. A time where we can look within ourselves and ask how we can be a gift to those in our circle of influence, as others have been in ours.
It is never to late to decide to be the best us we can be. It's simply a matter of understanding what we agree to in our pursuit of results. Understanding the consequences of these agreements.
The story of Christ is one of an ultimate sacrifice being made on others behalf out of love. Whether you believe in this or not, it is a powerful message just the same. We already invest ourselves in many paths, mostly illusory. Why not invest in the things that matter, the things we would see uplifted and healthy. Now is a great time to reflect on this question as we celebrate this exact message.
