Happy Thursday 🎉 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊.As always I am so grateful for this day, hopefully you are having a good one too. It's been wonderful stepping it out 💯, now that it's almost bedtime 💤 let's quickly take a look at how my day has been and also share some of the trending stories. As always thank you for reading and let's take it away 💨.
So I started the day with lots of brisk walking around the neighbourhood, today was a little warmer than yesterday which motivated me to keep going. Then I was back indoors for some resting and some of the little household chores here and there. Later in the afternoon I had to get something to cook from the shopping centre. Then back home I squeezed in the usual nap before the evening set in. Next came the slow paced evening walking session enjoying the cool breeze🍃.Throughout the day I have been following up on the trending news, that's next.
Locally, the usual political shenanigans 😹 kept going.
On the continent, Senegal is finally going to the polls on March 24th. The president had postponed the elections to an unknown date leading to serious protests. The supreme court finally ruled that elections must be held before his constitutional term ends in April.
Globally, another devastating day in Gaza as Israeli airstrikes kept going.
Today marked the sixth month since the war started.
In that time nearly 31,000 Palestinians have lost their lives,with over 70k injured and thousands more internally displaced 😿.
Across the pond in the US, president Joe Biden is expected to announce a plan to set up a port on Gaza's coastline. That announcement expected during his state of the nation speech on Thursday.
Seems like the US is getting more frustrated with the aid delivery issues.
Pressure is growing on Israel to allow more aid into Gaza where the UN says famine is imminent🙀.
Let's go to Europe, where Germany trending as rail and airport workers went on strike leaving passengers stranded🙀. They are seeking a salary increment that matches the growing inflation.
Sweden trending as they have formally joined NATO ending 200 years of neutrality😹. After Russia's invasion of Ukraine they are not taking chances.
Finally, in Haiti the state of emergency had been extended by the govt.
Haiti is now lawless as gangs have attacked the airport as well as prisons and police stations🙀. Dangerous criminals who were serving sentences were released some time last week a gangs attacked prisons.
Schools are closed, businesses closed, public services are not working, it's just a mess😿. Neighbouring Dominican republic has reinforced the border and remains on high alert. The current PM is stuck in Puerto Rico as he cannot fly home due to closure of the Haiti airport🙀.
Let's hope some kind of solution can be reached to bring back order and civility💯.
