Happy hump day 😎🎉 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊. We are bang in the middle of the week and I have had another wonderful day. I hope you are still pursuing your 2024 new years resolutions😹.Thank you for being here and please keep reading 👓 as I let you in on how my day went plus some of the trending stories I came across. Let's get going 💨.
I kicked off the day with a few rounds of brisk walking around the neighbourhood. It was a beautiful sunny 🌞 morning as I made my way. A short walk that I enjoyed and then I was back indoors thirty minutes later. I then rested for a while, caught up with emails, watched the news and then the usual chores around the house.
My next stepping came later in the afternoon going to the shopping centre for some groceries. Still a beautiful sunny day as I made my way. It was nap time when I got back indoors, I woke up some time early evening and got on with the cooking, watching a little bit of news and youtube .Next came the evening or sunset walk, it looked like it would rain but it didn't and I made it back home safe and sound. Now let's quickly look at what has been trending in the news today.
Locally, the usual political shenanigans kept going😹, a sweeping new health insurance is about to be inaugurated in Kenya, many employees angry at the increased tax.
Globally, another horrendous day in Gaza as 210 Palestinians killed in the past 24 hours😭. A UN facility sheltering thousands of displaced civilians was hit😿.
Drone strikes and ground fighting went on. Israeli forces are encircling Khan Younis and troops are firing around medical facilities🙀.
Over in Israel families of captives held in Gaza, marched the streets of Tel Aviv blocking roads and motorways. Later marched to the ministry of defence🙀. They are demanding their govt to do more to secure safe release of their loved ones.
Lets go to Europe, EU foreign ministers have been meeting in Brussels discussing Gaza. EU special envoy to the middle east, Sven Koopmans, said a two state solution is what will lead to lasting peace in the middle east. Though Israeli PM, Netanyahu is so much against it😿.
Also trending, Iranian president Raisi is visiting Turkey to discuss that war in Gaza and other economic deals.
Still in Europe, french farmers have taken their protests to Brussels, they are protesting the excessive EU regulations. Farmers are having a hard time, last week the Germans too were protesting too😿.
Across the pond in the US, Trump won the New Hampshire primaries against Haley. Seems like he will sweep through and be the republican candidate. His only threat is if he gets convicted in one of the cases he faces in court😿.
Finally, Argentina trending as tens of thousands of workers across the country went on strike🙀. Unions are challenging the new president's economic reforms. Sweeping privatization of public companies and elimination of primary elections. Anarcho capitalist, President Javier Milei says his goal is to rebuild Argentina and undo regulations preventing economic growth. Let's hope he succeeds💯, that economy has been really bad.
