Hello everyone 👋,
Happy Sunday, happy new year 🎉 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊. Just another ordinary Sunday, the very first one of 2024; and the stepping continued unabated. As always I am truly happy and grateful for this day💯,many wanted to see it but didn't, so we are all blessed. Thank you for being here yet again and before bedtime, let's quickly take a look at how my day went and also some of the trending stories. Here we go again, come on 💨.
So just like yesterday, I kicked off with the fast paced morning session. Thoroughly enjoyed the cool morning breeze 🍃 as I made my way around the neighborhood 🌲. But it was a short walk. Then I was back indoors for some rest and the daily household chores. A little bit of youtube and cooking then the afternoon saw me go out to the shopping centre for some groceries. Next came the refreshing nap💤. I woke up some time later in the evening and continued watching some of the earlier videos and news.
I did finish off the day with the slow paced evening walk. Now let's quickly take a look what has been trending in the media streets.
Locally, the usual political shenanigans kept going😹, otherwise a quiet day.
Not a quiet day in Gaza as Israel continued the bombings. Today dozens dead in Khan Younis and central Gaza. The death toll in 24 hours is 112, the total death toll since October 7 is now 22,835😭.
Also trending, among the dead is the son of aljazeera journalist Wael Al Dahdouh. The 27 year old was killed alongside another journalist while driving in their car. Wael had earlier in October lost his wife, son, daughter and grandchild. A really painful day with that death of his eldest son😿.
A total of 110 journalists have been killed since October 7🙀.
On the diplomatic front, Anthony Blinken is in Doha Qatar after visiting Greece, Turkey and Jordan. He is expected to discuss delivery of aid and the release of isreali captives. His next stop is Abu Dhabi.
Then an interesting election in Bangladesh. Polls have closed in an election boycotted by the opposition. The turn out less than 40% of registered voters.The current PM, Sheikh Hasina largely expected to win a 4th term to make her the longest serving female leader, she's ruthless😹.
Finally,trending globally, Orthodox christians are celebrating Christmas ☃️. Ceremonies and processions have taken place around the world from Moscow to Cairo. I guess it's merry Christmas 🥳🎄🎊.
