Hello everyone 👋,
Happy Thursday 🎉 and a very warm welcome to my report 😊. We are definitely inching closer to the weekend🤪 . As always thank you for being here and let's quickly take a look at how my day has been including some of the trending stories. You know how we do it, let's go 💨.
So I had a rather short fast paced morning session consisting of a few rounds of brisk walking 👣 around the neighborhood 🌲. The cool morning breeze 🍃 was fantastic 💯.
Then I was back indoors for some resting, a little bit of daily chores and catching up with the news. The next chance of walking came in the afternoon out to the city centre for some errands , nice sunny day as I made my way. As always I squeezed in the afternoon nap and woke up some time early evening. After some news and you tube, it was time for the slow paced sunset walk. I had a nice walk then was back indoors still watching news and some you tube. So now let's quickly take a look at a summary of what was trending.
Locally, the usual political shenanigans kept going😹, the Kenyan president has approved divisive healthcare law, the new health levy has employees and employers complaining🙀.
On the continent, power has been restored in Guinea-Bissau after two days🙀. Turkish firm put the lights back on after the govt partially settled a $15 million debt.
Globally, Israel's aerial bombardment of Gaza continues with bombing intensified over the past few hours. Even in the south where they said it was safe🙀.
Gaza media office says at least 369 Palestinians killed in the past 24 hours😭. 81 were in the supposed safe areas😿. The hospitals are in dire situation as medicines and supplies quickly running out.
Also trending, British PM Rishi Sunak travelled to Israel met with PM Netanyahu. Sunak reiterated British support for Israel but made no mention of a ceasefire during the visit🙀.
He later stopped by in Saudi Arabia for talks with the crown prince 🤴😹.
Across the pond in the US, the state department says it wants sustained aid for Gaza, but still working out details of an agreement. A special envoy is meeting with Egyptian and Israeli officials about aid agreement.
The WHO says Gaza aid trucks are loaded and ready to go into Gaza hopefully on Friday. They are waiting at the Rafa crossing.
The biggest fear right now is that this war escalates, with Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon🙀, hopefully not 💯.
