Happy Monday 🎉 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊. It's a new week and the stepping continued unabated. Please keep reading 👓 as I fill you in on how my day has been including some of the trending stories I came across. As always thank you for being here and let's take it away 💨.
So I had two major walks, starting off early with fast paced morning session. I brisk walked around the neighbourhood. I did enjoy that fresh morning breeze🍃. Then I was back indoors for the usual household chores. later in the afternoon, I stopped by the shopping center then was back home for some cooking followed by the usual nap. In between I did check out some trending news and watched some you tube. Finally I finished off the day with the slow paced evening walk in the cool evening breeze.
So what's been trending. Locally, the usual political shenanigans kept going 😹. Otherwise a quiet day.
Globally, seems like the world's attention is on the middle east with the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. The Israeli army is launching repeated air and artillery strikes across the Gaza strip. One Israeli airstrike hit Jabaliya refugee camp killing dozens of Palestinians😭.
Meanwhile Hamas attackers are still active in some towns inside Israel close to Gaza🙀.
Israel PM Netanyahu has said this is just the beginning and things would get worse for Hamas🙀. There's a total blockade of Gaza strip, no water, no food, no electricity, no fuel will be let through. There's a total population of 2.5 million people living there😿.
In Gaza, a spokesman for Al Qassim brigades has announced that they will be executing Israeli captives for every unannounced Israeli attack🙀.
Apparently, Israel usually announces or makes them aware before major attacks. They say they have upto one hundred Israeli captives🙀.
Also trending, Israel forces targeted three Hezbollah positions in the north. Hezbollah says five of its members were killed during the shelling🙀. This caused a huge forest fire in the area. Palestinian group Islamic jihad has claimed responsibility for incursion into northern Israel from Lebanon.
In Afghanistan the death toll from the earthquake has reached 1,000😭. Rescuers are still digging for survivors using shovels and bare hands. The earthquake flattened whole villages mostly constructed with mud bricks.
Finally, let's finish with some good news. This year's Nobel economics prize has been awarded to Claudia Goldin, an American economic historian, for her work on women's employment and pay. Oh wow, congratulations 🎉 to her 🎊. She is only third woman to receive the prize and the first to not share the award with a male colleague🥳.
