Happy Monday 🎉 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊. We are onto a new week/month of Uptober😹. Hopefully you are having a great day this far. Mine has been ok and as the day draws to a close, am raring to go with some of the day's trending news and my stepping activities. Thank you for stopping by yet again and let's get cracking 💨.
So I had two major walks, starting off early with fast paced morning session. I brisk walked around the neighbourhood. At least today the sun was out on a beautiful Monday morning with an amazing fresh breeze🍃. Then I was back indoors for the usual household chores. later in the afternoon, I stopped by the shopping center then was back home for some cooking followed by the usual nap. In between I did check out some trending news and watched some you tube. Finally I finished off the day with the slow paced evening walk in the cool evening breeze.
So what's been trending. Locally, the usual political shenanigans kept going 😹. Otherwise a quiet day.
On the continent, Sudan trending as more than 130 cases of rape and sexual assault reported but activists say the total is much higher🙀. Most cases reported are carried out by rapid support forces and UN says sexual violence is being used as a weapon of war in the Sudan conflict😡. Very sad.
Not far off the UN also warning that Yemen is facing a humanitarian crisis as a third of the population face extreme hunger🙀. The pictures of weak and emaciated children is what gets to me😭, another sad situation.
Let's go to Europe where EU foreign ministers were meeting in Kyiv, Ukraine promising unwavering support to president Zelensky as the war rages. After the war Ukraine will become an EU member💯.
UK also trending as thousands of doctors across England have started a three day strike for the eighth time since March🙀. They are demanding better pay and working conditions. I guess things have become expensive worldwide as inflation hits economies like we have never seen before😹.
This year's Nobel prize for medicine has gone to two scientists for their discovery of the MRNA covid vaccine🎉, congratulations 🎊🥳 to them. The Swedish king will present the award to them at a ceremony in Stockholm in December.
Across the pond in the US, former president Donald Trump has appeared at a new York court charged in a civil case over fraud. He allegedly inflated his networth in financial statements by billions of dollars to acquire favourable loans from banks🙀. He of course called it a political witch-hunt😹.
Speaking of court cases, the trial of disgraced crypto tycoon Sam Bankman Fried is set to open tomorrow still in New York. He had his bail revoked this August, he faces multiple charges of money laundering and fraud🙀. Prosecutors allege that he used his $32 billion empire to influence the US political establishment, Hollywood and even Chinese officials😹. Let's see how this one goes.
