Hello everyone 👋,
Happy hump day 😎🎉 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊. Its yet another 24 hours to be grateful for 💯, it's also the second day of August, hi August😹. I have had a great day and as it draws to a close am raring to go with my stepping activities and also share what's trending in the media streets. As always thank you for reading and let's take it away 💨.
I kicked off the day with a few rounds of brisk walking around the neighbourhood. It was a cloudy morning as I made my way. Anyways, I did enjoy my walk and was back indoors an hour later. I then rested for a while, caught up with emails, watched the news and then the usual chores around the house.
My next stepping came later in the afternoon going to the shopping centre for some groceries. Still a dull cloudy day as I made my way. It was nap time when I got back indoors, I woke up some time early evening and got on with the cooking, watching a little bit of news and youtube.
Next came the evening or sunset walk, it looked like it would rain but it didn't and I made it back home safe and sound. Now let's quickly look at what has been trending in the news today.
Locally, the usual political shenanigans kept going😹; the government today stopped registration of world coin sighting citizens data and privacy. There were long queues in several malls and the convention centre; people waiting to have their eyeballs scanned. I am sure it will be back on.
On the continent, ECOWAS has sent a delegation to speak to the coup leaders to urgent them to reinstate the democratically elected president whom they deposed. Failure to which force may be used🙀.
Meanwhile, in Nigeria major protests by workers from different sectors of the economy. They are protesting rising costs of goods and services after the govt removed fuel subsidies.
Globally, Ukraine trending as Russia attacked vital Ukrainian export port in Odessa 🙀. Meanwhile, in Kyiv air defence shot down several Russian drones on Tuesday night.
Portugal trending as Pope Francis arrived there to kickstart the world youth day event that will go on for five days. A million young catholics will be arriving in Lisbon. Union leaders are arranging strikes against increasing costs of living even as the event goes on🙀.
Across the pond in the US, former president Donald Trump has been indicted yet again🙀. This time on four counts including an attempt to hold on to power after his 2020 loss, defrauding US voters😹. You just wonder will he be behind bars or at the white house in 2024? Only time will tell.
Further down, Chile trending as teachers protested and marched to parliament buildings🙀. They are demanding safer schools and payment of pensions to retired teachers.
