Happy Thursday 🎉 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊. Hopefully you are having a great day, mine has been amazing and as always I thank you for stopping by yet again 👏. I must admit, am truly grateful for this day💯. Let's proceed to quickly check out my stepping activities and also share some of the trending stories I came across. Here we go again 💨.
I had two major walking sessions in the day starting off with the fast paced morning session. A rather short one, as today was another cold, cloudy morning. This cold spell just won't ease up😱. Then I was back indoors for the usual household chores. Later in the afternooon another short walk to the park to catch some of the sunrays, at least the sun came out around 1pm. Then I was back indoors for the usual refreshing nap😴. The last walking session was the slow paced evening walk around the neighbourhood, park and shopping centre. Of course throughout the day I have been checking out what's going on in the media streets. That's next on whats trending.
Locally, the usual political shenanigans😹 kept going, today was swearing in day for newly elected governors, now they must fulfill all the promises and lies they fed us on the campaign trail. Talk is cheap, let's see the real action in the next five years💯.
Globally, Ukraine trending especially that barbaric Russian attack on a train station yesterday on independence day😢. Elsewhere power was restored to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant even as the IAEA calls for a demilitarized zone around that area to avoid a catastrophe. Then French President, Macron is on a 3 day visit to Algiers, Algeria trying to mend ties and also probably searching for gas😹. Across the pond in the US, Biden is proposing to reduce or cancel student loans that are quite a burden/ bad headache to millions of people who graduated then have to continue paying for years.
Trending in Asia, a court in Pakistan granted bail to former PM, Imran Khan who is being charged with terrorism. The bail is until 1 september. Elsewhere in Bangladesh there are plans to repatriate over a million Rohingya refugees back to Myanmar, they are living in dilapidated camps not wanted by Bangladesh and also not recognized by Myanmar, making them the largest group of stateless people😢. A tough situation as Bangladesh seeks help from the UN.
In crazy weather, flooding reported in Istanbul after heavy downpours, there's also reported flooding in parts of Pakistan.
