Paper Pots
I use just about anything I can to start my seedlings in. I save plastic cups from parties. I reuse small pots from nurseries and cardboard flats. But today I’m making square posts from newspaper pages.
These pots are super easy to make and the materials can be sourced for free. We have a free, local ad paper that comes out weekly. When the new additions come out on Thursday, the leftovers from last week are thrown out. We collect the papers from the previous week.

These pots are simple and fast to make, and they’re an easy way to recycle and save money on seed starting supplies.
When it’s time to put the plants out in the garden, I make a couple cuts in the bottom of the pots and plant them, pot and all, into the ground.
