I had the chance to visit Serralves Park during the enchanting Serralves em Luz event. Inspired by the magical photos we captured that night, I decided to share my experience.
Last September 2024, I had the chance to visit Serralves Park during a very special event called 'Serralves em Luz'. Looking back at the photos I took that evening, I felt inspired to relive the magical experience and share it with all of you. Actually, I should mention that the photos were taken with my wife's phone, as mine doesn't capture good images at night. This nighttime event transformed the already beautiful park into a amazing realm of light, color and art.

No passado m锚s de Setembro de 2024, tive a oportunidade de visitar o Parque de Serralves durante um evento muito especial denominado 'Serralves em Luz'. Ao olhar para as fotografias que tirei nessa noite, senti-me inspirado para reviver a experi锚ncia m谩gica e partilh谩-la com todos v贸s. Na verdade, devo referir que as fotos foram tiradas com o telem贸vel da minha mulher, pois o meu n茫o capta boas imagens 脿 noite. Este evento noturno transformou o j谩 belo parque num incr铆vel reino de luz, cor e arte.
This park is stunning during the day, with its vast gardens, winding paths and serene atmosphere. However, experiencing it at night during was something completely different. The park took on an entirely new identity as the darkness allowed the carefully designed light installations to shine brilliantly. It felt like stepping into another world where nature and art blended seamlessly.
One of the most striking things about this event is how it gives you a fresh perspective on the park. Places that seem ordinary during the day become extraordinary when illuminated. Trees, bridges, and pathways that I鈥檝e walked by many times before felt almost unfamiliar under the artistic glow of colorful lights. It was like rediscovering Serralves all over again.

Este parque 茅 deslumbrante durante o dia, com os seus vastos jardins, caminhos sinuosos e atmosfera serena. No entanto, vivenci谩-lo 脿 noite foi algo completamente diferente. O parque assumiu uma identidade totalmente nova, pois a escurid茫o permitiu que as instala莽玫es de luz cuidadosamente concebidas brilhassem intensamente. Era como entrar noutro mundo onde a natureza e a arte se misturavam perfeitamente.
Uma das coisas mais impressionantes deste evento 茅 a forma como d谩 uma nova perspetiva do parque. Lugares que parecem comuns durante o dia tornam-se extraordin谩rios quando iluminados. 脕rvores, pontes e caminhos por onde j谩 passei pareciam muitas vezes quase desconhecidos sob o brilho art铆stico das luzes coloridas. Foi como redescobrir novamente Serralves.
The event was filled with vibrant displays of light in every color imaginable. Some areas of the park were bathed in soft, calming blues and greens, while others exploded with bold reds, oranges and yellows. Walking from one section to another felt like moving through different emotions and moods created by the interplay of light and shadow.

O evento foi repleto de exibi莽玫es vibrantes de luzes em todas as cores imagin谩veis. Algumas 谩reas do parque estavam banhadas em tons suaves e relaxante de azul e verde, enquanto outras explodiam em tons fortes de vermelho, laranja e amarelo. Caminhar de uma sec莽茫o para a outra era como passar por diferentes emo莽玫es e estados de esp铆rito criados pela intera莽茫o da luz e da sombra.
One of my favourite spots was a section of the garden where the trees were illuminated in alternating colours. The light danced across their branches, creating a amazing display that made me pause for several minutes. It wasn't just the visual aspect that impressed me the atmosphere felt alive and full of energy.

Um dos meus locais favoritos era uma parte do jardim onde as 谩rvores eram iluminadas com cores alternadas. A luz dan莽ava nos seus ramos, criando uma exibi莽茫o hipnotizante que me fez parar durante v谩rios minutos. N茫o foi s贸 o aspeto visual que me impressionou, a atmosfera parecia viva e cheia de energia.
The trees in Serralves Park were truly the stars of the show. Each one was carefully lit to highlight its natural beauty, from its intricate branches to its textured bark.
Walking among these illuminated giants felt surreal. The play of light brought out details I never noticed before, and the contrast between the glowing trees and the dark night sky was breathtaking.

As 谩rvores do Parque de Serralves foram mesmo as estrelas do espect谩culo. Cada uma delas foi cuidadosamente iluminada para destacar a sua beleza natural, desde os seus ramos intrincados at茅 脿 sua casca texturizada.
Caminhar entre estes gigantes iluminados parecia surreal. O jogo de luz trouxe 脿 tona detalhes que nunca tinha notado antes, e o contraste entre as 谩rvores brilhantes e o c茅u escuro da noite era de cortar a respira莽茫o.
The combination of height, light and the soft rustling of the trees below created an almost magical sensation. I spent a long time here, just taking it all in and snapping photos to remember the moment.
The bridge also offered a unique perspective on the park. From this elevated position, I could see the expanse of the illuminated landscape, with different sections glowing in their own distinct colours.

A combina莽茫o de altura, luz e o suave farfalhar das 谩rvores em baixo criava uma sensa莽茫o quase m谩gica. Passei aqui muito tempo, apenas a absorver tudo e a tirar fotos para me lembrar do momento.
A ponte oferece tamb茅m uma perspetiva 煤nica do parque. A partir desta posi莽茫o elevada, pude ver a extens茫o da paisagem iluminada, com diferentes sec莽玫es a brilhar nas suas pr贸prias cores distintas.
As I wandered through the park, I discovered areas I hadn't noticed before. Serralves em Luz encouraged exploration, drawing visitors to hidden corners and less-traveled paths. These tucked away spots often held the most surprising and delightful installations.

Enquanto deambulava pelo parque, descobri 谩reas que n茫o tinha reparado antes. Serralves em Luz incentivou a explora莽茫o, atraindo visitantes para recantos escondidos e caminhos menos percorridos. Estes lugares escondidos geralmente abrigavam as instala莽玫es mais surpreendentes e encantadoras.
While Serralves em Luz was primarily a visual experience, sound played an important role in enhancing the atmosphere. In some areas, the soundscapes were synchronized with the light displays, adding another layer of depth to the experience.

Embora Serralves em Luz tenha sido sobretudo uma experi锚ncia visual, o som desempenhou um papel importante na melhoria da atmosfera. Em algumas 谩reas, as paisagens sonoras foram sincronizadas com as exibi莽玫es de luzes, acrescentando outra camada de profundidade 脿 experi锚ncia.
One installation combined a soft, rhythmic soundtrack with pulsating lights. The synchronisation made it feel as though the light and sound were communicating, creating a harmonious and calming effect.

Uma instala莽茫o combinava uma banda sonora suave e r铆tmica com luzes pulsantes. A sincroniza莽茫o fez com que parecesse que a luz e o som estavam a comunicar, criando um efeito harmonioso e calmante.
This event was not just an event, it was an experience that engaged all the senses. The combination of nature, light, and creativity made it a truly magical evening. It reminded me of the power of art to transform our surroundings and create moments of wonder.
