Three children, Maria, Angelica and Pedro, live in a beautifully decorated little house. Their mother wakes them up every day with her singing.

In the afternoon she sends them to look for blackberries in the forest.

"Be very careful," she warns them, "Don't trust anyone, don't talk to strangers unless they are birds".

The children go into the forest. Each one carries a basket to store the fruits.

They come to a clearing where blackberry plants abound, the juicy, appetizing fruit hanging from the branches,

"How delicious they are," says Pedro, "I was already very hungry.

"You're a glutton, you're always hungry", Angelica speaks with her mouth full of blackberries.

Suddenly they hear a sound, it sounds like a baby crying.

"What is it?" -Maria remembers what her mother told her. -Come on, brothers, let's get away from here.

"But is it a baby that is in danger? We're just going to look out," says Angelica.

There they find a wounded fawn, its eyes big and wet with long eyelashes, it looks at them sadly.

"Poor thing, let's help it," Pedro tries to convince his older sister.

The little birds of the forest begin to flutter around the children, but it is too late and the fawn transforms into a wicked witch with a long nose and a purple hat that with her long arms holds them and prevents them from escaping.

"What fools! They fell into my trap. Ha, ha, ha, ha, that's what you get for disobeying children or maybe I should call them... birds", -and with a touch of her bad breath she faints them and they are transformed into three little nightingales, which the wicked witch locks in a cage.

A deafening sound and a great cloud darkens the forest, the wicked witch looks up into the sky and tries to flee. Thousands of birds fly over her as she runs to hide under the stones.

"Let me go, you hateful birds," the witch tries to flee, but she doesn't have time and they fall on her, pecking at her. Her deformed body becomes smaller and smaller... until she disappears.

The children's mother, a robin with a yellow beak, approaches the cage.

"My beloved children, I told you not to trust anyone". -Tears run down her cheeks.

The full moon is seen in the sky in all its splendor.

"Please Fairy of the forest, help my children, as you did for me that evening when I was a child and the wicked witch also transformed me into a bird.

A golden light illuminates the forest, an owl flies in and transforms into a beautiful woman who says to him.

.

"Your children have a pure heart, they decided to help the fawn. I will grant your wish. They will become human again, but every night of the full moon, like you, they will be transformed into birds so that they will never forget what happened to them".

The witch did not die, but she was reduced to such a small size that she wanders through the forest hiding from the insects that want to eat her.
