Samuel se mira al espejo buscando algo que lo está molestando desde hace unos días, no sabe que es, pero lo siente dentro de su cuerpo. Se abre un ojo con los dedos de ambos manos, pero no ve más que la cornea un poco amarillenta y el iris de color verde oscuro.
Comienza a afeitarse, tiene una barba de una semana, estuvo enfermo con una gripe que le comenzó después de regresar de la montaña azul, donde escaló con rapel una gran roca. Ese día fue solo, le gustaba disfrutar la soledad, sus pocos amigos decían que era un ermitaño.
La molestia se hizo insoportable, y decidió ir al médico. Le hicieron todos los exámenes necesarios, pero ninguno dio razón de los padecimientos de Samuel. Empezó a perder la voluntad propia, cuando decidía hacer algo, en el fondo de su mente se lo prohibían. Cambió por completo sus hábitos alimenticios. Él era un gran carnívoro, le gustaba comer filetes de res, muy gruesos y jugosos. Le encantaba hacer parrilladas en el patio de su casa y ahora solo comía vegetales y frutas. Se la pasaba cuidando las plantas del jardín, y ya no iba a escalar montañas, su voz interna se lo había prohibido. No le gustaba salir con sus antiguos amigos y ahora era amigo de todas las compañeras de la oficina donde trabajaba.
Y lo que él consideraba la mayor de su desgracia era que pasaba horas frente al espejo admirando su rostro y los dientes, sentía fascinación por sus dientes y por arreglarse el cabello y las cejas. Su ropa, que era deportiva, ahora era… elegante.
Samuel se debatía entre dos personalidades muy distintas y en su desespero por saber qué le estaba pasando, fue a la consulta de un psiquiatra especialista en hipnosis.
Al llegar a la consulta, el médico le preguntó cuál era su problema y desde cuándo había comenzado a desarrollarlo. Este momento era muy importante porque así él podía establecer su regresión en el tiempo, saber hasta dónde llegaría el recuerdo de lo pasado
La preparación para la sesión fue muy sencilla, solo él y el psiquiatra en el consultorio. Se acostó en un diván, y siguiendo las instrucciones del médico, comenzó a escuchar el metrómetro ajustado a 60 ciclos por minuto, con los ojos cerrados mientras la voz le decía "Tienes sueño, tienes mucho sueño”.
Samuel despertó y se encontró solo en el consultorio, no recordaba nada de lo que había pasado. Salió a la salita de espera, vio a la enfermera y le preguntó por el médico. El no ha salido, le dijo ¿será que está en el baño? Entre los dos lo buscaron pero no lo encontraron. Afuera escuchan unos gritos y al asomarse por el balcón ven el cuerpo del psiquiatra estrellado contra el pavimento .
La enfermera grita y lo mira con terror. Cree que Samuel lo asesinó y corre a llamar a la policía mientras escapa de aquel hombre que parece un demente.
—Tienes que huir, apúrate, creen que tú lo mataste.
Samuel escucha con claridad esa voz que le habla en su cerebro.
—¿Quién eres?, ¿por qué me hablas?, el pobre hombre está al borde de un ataque de pánico.
—Ahora no hay tiempo para explicarte, solo tienes que salir de aquí lo más rápido posible.
—Pero yo no he hecho nada, estaba hipnotizado.
—Voy a tener que empujarte —y en ese momento Samuel siente que ya no gobierna su cuerpo, sale de la oficina y en una carrera corre hacia las escaleras de emergencia por donde llega a una puerta trasera, sale del edificio al tiempo de escuchar los sonidos de la sirena de la policía y la ambulancia que están llegando al lugar del suceso..
—¿Adónde?, espérate, no me hagas correr tan rápido … No puedo pensar.
—Tenemos que alejarnos de aquí lo más rápido posible.
—Vamos a buscar mi carro.
—No podemos, lo más lógico es que te busquen por el carro o en tu casa. Será mejor que no pienses, mejor déjame a mí. Yo sé lo que tenemos que hacer, no puedo seguir con este juego.
Samuel no entiende nada de lo que está pasando, y se deja llevar por lo que sea que está dentro de su mente.
—¿Tienes dinero?
—Si acá tengo mi cartera y también mi tarjeta de crédito, pero ¿qué vamos a hacer?
—Vamos de regreso a la montaña azul, no podemos perder más tiempo. Allí comenzó todo.
—Puedes explicármelo por favor, me estás volviendo loco.
—Ahora te lo explico, por ahora lo importante es llegar hasta allá.
Samuel siente que está viviendo un sueño muy loco, y cuando se monta en el autobús que lo llevará hasta la región de la montaña azul cae en un profundo sueño.
Se vio a sí mismo escalando la roca hasta llegar a la cima y allí se le apareció un ser luminoso, sin forma, era pura energía y en segundos ese ser se acercó a su cuerpo y se fusionaron.
Al despertar ya había llegado a su destino, la montaña se veía cubierta de neblina y comenzó a andar hacia una senda por donde se podía llegar hasta la roca que había escalado. Allí la voz de su interior comenzó a explicarle lo que le había ocurrido.
—Vengo de una nave que orbita un planeta que está en una galaxia que ustedes llaman M31, según la manera que ustedes tienen de medir las distancias, está a más de 2 millones de años luz. El planeta no está habitado, pero eso no nos importa, solo necesitamos de su gravedad para impulsarnos por el universo. Somos viajeros que estudiamos las estrellas, pero a veces nos aburrimos y hemos inventado un juego. Este juego consiste en conocer cómo viven otros seres. Pero tenemos prohibido inmiscuirnos en su modo de vida y no podemos permitir que nos descubran. Entre tantas personas de este mundo pude captar tu energía y entrar en tu mente, pero ocurrió un error y ese hombre, el psiquiatra, pudo verme.
—Y tú lo mataste para que no te descubriera. Lo lanzaste por la ventana y fue con mi ayuda y ahora me buscan por asesino. ¡Quien va a creer mi historia!.
—¡Cálmate! Yo no la maté. Él escuchó lo que ibas recordando y pensó que los ovnis íban a llegar para invadir tu planeta y se lanzó solito por la ventana. A lo mejor tenía un trauma… ¡Que sé yo!. Este hombre como que estaba más loco que tú.
—Yo no estaba loco hasta que tú entraste a mi mente y me fuiste obligando a hacer cosas que no me gustan.
—Eso me divirtió mucho, además en mi mundo no podemos comer carne, está prohibido y pensándolo bien, te hice un favor, porque tu cuerpo tiene ciertos problemitas por el excesivo consumo de carne. Deberías agradecerme en vez de quejarte.
—Un rayo de luz llegó hasta donde estaba Samuel.
—La voz en su interior se despidió de él.
—Debo irme ya, te dejo en libertad. Eso es lo que tu querías .
—Y ahora que hago, estoy libre, pero soy un asesino. Me estarán buscando.
La voz se quedó en silencio por un momento y segundos después el rayo de luz partía hacia el espacio.
Cuando la policía llegó a la montaña azul, encontró el cadáver de Samuel al pie de la roca.
—Pobre loco… se suicidó

The discomfort became unbearable, and he decided to go to the doctor. They did all the necessary tests, but none of them gave a reason for Samuel's ailments. He began to lose his self-will; when he decided to do something, in the back of his mind he was forbidden to do it.
He completely changed his eating habits. He was a great carnivore, he liked to eat beef steaks, very thick and juicy. He loved to barbecue in his backyard and now only ate vegetables and fruits. He spent his time taking care of the plants in the garden, and he no longer went mountain climbing, his inner voice had forbidden him to do so. He didn't like hanging out with his old friends and was now friends with all the female colleagues in the office where he worked.
And what he considered the greatest of his misfortune was that he spent hours in front of the mirror admiring his face and teeth, he was fascinated by his teeth and by fixing his hair and eyebrows. His clothes, once sporty, were now... stylish.
Samuel was torn between two very different personalities and in his desperation to find out what was happening to him, he went to see a psychiatrist specializing in hypnosis.
When he arrived at the consultation, the doctor asked him what his problem was and since when he had started to develop it. This moment was very important because he was able to establish his regression in time, to know how far the memory of the past would reach.
The preparation for the session was very simple, just him and the psychiatrist in the office. He lay down on a couch, and following the doctor's instructions, he began to listen to the metrometer set at 60 cycles per minute, with his eyes closed while the voice said "You are sleepy, you are very sleepy".
Samuel woke up and found himself alone in the office, not remembering anything that had happened. He went out to the waiting room, saw the nurse and asked for the doctor. He hasn't come out," she said, "is he in the bathroom? Between the two of them they looked for him but did not find him. Outside they hear some screams and when they look out of the balcony they see the psychiatrist's body smashed against the pavement.
The nurse screams and looks at him in terror. She thinks Samuel murdered him and runs to call the police while running away from that man who looks like a madman.
"Run, hurry, they think you killed him".
Samuel clearly hears that voice speaking in his brain.
"Who are you? why are you talking to me?", the poor man is on the verge of a panic attack.
"Now there's no time to explain, you just have to get out of here as fast as possible".
"But I didn't do anything, I was hypnotized.
"I'm going to have to push you and at that moment Samuel feels that he no longer governs his body, he leaves the office and in a race runs to the emergency stairs where he reaches a back door, he leaves the building at the time he hears the sounds of the police siren and the ambulance that are arriving at the scene".
"Where to, wait, don't make me run so fast ... I can't think. Let's go get my car."
"We can't. The most logical thing to do is to look for your car or your house. You'd better not think, better leave it to me. I know what we have to do, I can't go on with this game".
Samuel doesn't understand anything of what is happening, and he lets himself be carried away by whatever is inside his mind.
"Do you have any money?"
"Yes, I have my wallet here and my credit card too, but what are we going to do?"
"Let's go back to the blue mountain, we can't waste any more time. That's where it all started".
"Can you explain it to me please, you're driving me crazy".
"I'll explain it to you now, for now the important thing is to get there".
Samuel feels that he is living a very crazy dream, and when he gets on the bus that will take him to the region of the blue mountain he falls into a deep sleep.
He saw himself climbing the rock until he reached the top and there a luminous being appeared to him, without form, it was pure energy and in seconds that being approached his body and they merged.
When he woke up he had already reached his destination, the mountain was covered with fog and he began to walk towards a path where he could reach the rock he had climbed. There the voice inside him began to explain what had happened to him.
"I come from a ship that orbits a planet that is in a galaxy that you call M31, according to the way you have of measuring distances, it is more than 2 million light years away. The planet is not inhabited, but that does not matter to us, we only need its gravity to propel us through the universe. We are travelers who study the stars, but sometimes we get bored and we have invented a game. This game consists of knowing how other beings live. But we are forbidden to meddle in their way of life and we cannot allow them to discover us. Among so many people in this world I was able to capture your energy and enter your mind, but a mistake happened and that man, the psychiatrist, was able to see me".
"And you killed him so that he would not discover you. You threw him out the window and he went with my help and now I'm wanted as a murderer. Who's going to believe my story".
"Calm down! I didn't kill her. He heard what you were remembering and thought we were going to invade your planet and he threw himself out the window. Maybe he had a trauma... What do I know. This man was crazier than you".
"I wasn't crazy until you entered my mind and forced me to do things I didn't like".
"That amused me a lot, besides in my world we can't eat meat, it's forbidden and thinking about it, I did you a favor, because your body has certain problems due to the excessive consumption of meat. You should thank me instead of complaining.
A ray of light reached Samuel.
The voice inside him said goodbye.
"I must go now, I set you free. That's what you wanted".
"And now what do I do, I'm free, but I'm a murderer. They will be looking for me".
The voice was silent for a moment and seconds later the beam of light was leaving into space.
When the police arrived at the blue mountain, they found Samuel's body at the foot of the rock.
"Poor fool... he committed suicide".
Meanwhile, the energy of two beings crosses space, and in a few minutes of Earth time they will reach the ship orbiting a planet in the galaxy M31. Samuel has accepted the invitation to continue his life beyond the stars.
