Alfanso was a lonely man who rarely socialized with people. One day he went to a wine store, and he stumbled upon an Indian woman named Shyla. She was very talkative and sounded like an outgoing person who likes to have a large circle of friends.
Alfanso on the other hand avoided contact with people at any cost. Since he was overweight, he only wanted to worry about himself. Being around people made him nervous.
They started a conversation and one thing let to another and Shyla invited Alfanso to a ginger tea party held by one of her good friends Adam.
Alfanso hesitated to accept the invitation because he mostly spends his time in front of a computer screen because he is a software engineer, and he mostly does gigs and works from home.
"Will a lot of people be there?" Alfanso asked.
"Yes, absolutely, Adam's and my friends will be there! I am so excited for you to meet everyone!" Shyla said, not noticing Alfanso's social anxiety. She thought everyone was like herself, so easygoing and contended.
So, Alfanso goes to this party and meets everyone. They all seem to like him, and all were friendly. The reason he made himself go there was Shyla. He liked her energy and her spicy smell. He wasn't in love, but he was attracted to her.
After becoming a part of Shyla's social circle, he had more friends and therefore made more social contacts. This made him a new man, although he is yet to woo Shyla. He is taking baby steps. He has to work on himself first.
Those tea parties and gatherings saved Alfanso from a lifetime of being without a single friend to talk and being lonely all the time.
He doesn't miss those days!
