We spent two great weeks with my family, but it was time to return home. We wanted to stay for a few more days, but it wasn't possible as we have a lot of work to do in the garden. It's our top priority project for this year and we don't want to screw it up 馃檪

We said our goodbyes, jumped in the car and off we went! The trip started greatly. On the way, we visited my sister in Pre拧ov for a cup of coffee and then we continued our journey. The first surprise came when we found out that a part of the highway was closed, and we had to drive through small towns and villages for about 1 hour. And we were not the only ones. We were progressing slowly, but at least we were not stuck in the traffic jam.

We went through Levo膷a, and decided that we should visit this town again. It has such well maintained walls surrounding the old town. We were driving slowly, so I was able to take some photos of the bastion as well as the fortification.

When we approached Levo膷a we saw the calvary on top of a hill above the city.

2.jpg

Look at how beautiful is the city...

3.jpg

I wonder if we can walk in between the fortification walls. I will visit the city next time and find out...

4.jpg

Before we passed the city I managed to take a photo of another town gate. I came to Levo膷a about 10 years ago, but in my memory it doesn't look so nice, so I guess that they did some renovation work recently.

Only a few minutes later we entered a huge storm with hail. We finally entered the highway again, but we couldn't drive fast yet due to low visibility. For me it was a great opportunity to take some photos. However, it was only until my window got wet and I started to get car sick.

The weather didn't seem to get better, but we still got some views of High Tatras even though we didn't see the peaks. There was still a lot of snow.

It was getting worse and we had to slow down even more as it was close to zero degrees Celsius and I have changed the tires to the summer ones on my car already. There was a lot of water on the road and we chose safety over time.

The clouds were so dramatic...

I have always been fascinated by clouds. They can have so many forms and change very quickly.

The traffic was getting heavier, so our navigation advised us to go off the highway and cross the mountain pass instead. We followed the advice as it takes many things into consideration.

20.jpg

And we also love those sightseeing tours where we cross different places that we didn't see before.

21.jpg

22.jpg

Soon enough we realized that we were entering yet another storm. Little did we know that this one will be much worse...

23.jpg

It started lightly...

But then it started to snow...

27.jpg

It became stronger and stronger. At this point we were driving about 30km/h.

We truly didn't expect such weather and we were lucky that there was snow on the road only for a few kilometres. Once we passed the mountain pass my husband admitted that he was really scared but didn't want to worry me, so he kept making jokes on the way. Well, I was scared anyway!

It turned out to be a nightmare drive and we were tired , so decided to take a break in one of the cities on the way. But I will tell you about it another time.

Until then...
