My precious mugs collection

One of my New Year's resolutions is to participate more in Hive communities and join new initiatives, and maybe even some of the contests. I'm glad I can start already in January as I got inspired by @mipiano and her initiative to show our favourite mugs. I am not much of a collector, but when I looked in my cupboard I saw that I have some mugs to show you, and I also realized that some of them are precious to me because of people who gifted them to me or occasions at which I got them myself.

Let me show you what I got!

I use one of my Mumu cow mugs daily. They are perfect for my morning matcha latte, and their cute pictures and bright colours always make my day. I have a white, a red and an orange one in Switzerland, a blue one in The Netherlands at my in-laws, and a green one in Slovakia at my mom's place, so I can make my matcha latte at all 'my homes'. I must admit that there are strict usage rules of my Mumu cow mugs and I am the only one who can use them. I am convinced that this is one of the reasons why they are still intact. If one of them broke my heart would break a little too 😊

I got my first Mumu when we visited Säntis in the Swiss Alps almost 10 years ago, and then I got one every time we returned. We should probably go back again as they might have a new colour in stock.

The Mumu cow is very athletic and loves to do dangerous things, such as hanging on a rope like Jane from the tale of Tarzan...

Or walking on a flower rope..

But she also enjoys nature and toxic mushrooms...

Some years ago, I got these two handmade mugs from Romania from one of my colleagues. When she visited the office in Switzerland I invited her for dinner at our place and she brought those as a gift. The blue one was for me and the black one for my husband. I found it so thoughtful that she brought one for him too. We usually use them for tea in the evening when we watch TV together.

These two mugs were part of my birthday gift two years ago. I had my birthday party in Prague and invited friends from all over Europe, and this was a gift from my French friends. They know about my matcha latte addiction and these mugs were meant for this purpose, but you can see that they have no experience with the preparation as this shape is not suitable for matcha. However, they are big and perfect for tea!

I got this mug from my co-worker when I left my very first job in 2010. We worked together so well, and we also became friends quickly. She moved to The Netherlands some years ago, but we are still in touch and meet up from time to time too. I don't know why, but I only use this mug for tea when I'm sick in bed.

I love ceramics, and I feel like soon we will have to get a new apartment to store my collections as I started with pottery too, so more and more items are coming. However, these are not my products as I'm not that far yet 😊

I got these mugs in Prague some years ago. They had a green and a purple version. Since green is the favourite colour of my husband and purple is my favourite colour there was no point in choosing between these two, so we got them all.

I love mugs with traditional themes, such as these flower combinations. Again, I had a problem to choose between these two, so I had no option just to get them both. They are from Moravia. They are more of a decoration as I don't use them too often.

These mugs are from Pribilina in Slovakia. It is an open air museum with traditional crafts and arts being performed there. I got these two mugs from a lady creating her pottery on a medieval potter wheel. It was interesting to watch her and I knew that one day I wanted to try throwing pottery too.

This enamel mug is from a village Vlkolinec. It is one of the few places in Slovakia that look like museum, but people still live there. It's decorated with traditional theme too.

And I have a few visitor mugs too. It's a collection of two shapes with pastel colours. I find them elegant and perfect for our visitors. We had 8 of them, but some of them got chipped, so we don't use them anymore.

Technically, this one doesn't belong here, but I couldn't resist to show you our cute enamel espresso cup. It's totally unpractical as enamel gets hot quickly and coffee cools down way too fast, but I love the sea life illustration 😊
