A little while ago I shared a post about photographing the opening of one of our summer outdoor reading spaces in a local park. If you missed it, you can find it here.
As I mentioned before, every summer many parks in Lithuania become home to small outdoor library reading spaces. They are wonderful places where people can borrow books, relax on bean bags, spend time with family, and enjoy various cultural events organized by local libraries. I really like this idea because it brings books outside of library buildings and into everyday life, making reading feel even more inviting during the warmer months.
This time I visited another opening event, this one taking place in Dainava Park. Although it followed the same idea, every event has its own atmosphere, and that's one of the reasons I enjoy bringing my camera along.
The main highlight of this opening was a live performance by a well-known Lithuanian singer. Her music leans toward jazz, and the entire performance felt very artistic. She wasn't simply standing on stage and singing. Every movement, every gesture, and every facial expression seemed carefully connected to the music, making the performance feel almost theatrical.
As a photographer, performers like this are always interesting subjects. Expressive musicians naturally create dynamic photographs because they constantly change their posture, interact with the audience, and communicate emotions without saying a single word. It makes every frame feel slightly different from the previous one.
Even though I enjoyed photographing the concert, I actually didn't stay at this event for very long.
Compared to the previous reading space opening, this one was much smaller. There weren't as many activities happening around the park, and the space itself was more compact. Because of that, there were fewer opportunities to move around and discover new little moments to capture.
There are days when inspiration comes naturally and I find myself taking hundreds of photographs without even noticing how much time has passed. Other days I simply feel that I probably won't capture anything special and would much rather go home.
Since I photograph these events mainly as a hobby, I never feel pressured to stay longer than I want to. There isn't anyone expecting a certain number of images from me, and I don't have a checklist to complete. I can simply enjoy the atmosphere, photograph the moments that genuinely catch my attention, and leave when I feel satisfied.
Below I'm sharing some of my photographs from this evening. I hope you enjoy them!
