Hello everyone, welcome back, before anything else, I am very grateful for the amazing receptivity you gave me publishing my first post; you have given me the necessary impulse to continue my efforts and bringing the best possible content; today I want to share with you my experience when I read my first book, so without further ado, let's go.

The first book I read

The first time I read a book I was fifteen years old, I remember that during this period I was going through one of those "existential crises" of puberty where the world and those around you falling apart and everything is chaos. Today I look back and understand that this “existential crisis” was just a snack of the meal I was about to taste in my adult life (little things of life).

My mother has always been an assiduous reader, she was the one who recommended me to start reading, in order to distract myself and free my emotions a little. It goes without saying that she gave me several options of writers, different literary genres with their respective analysis, in the end it would be me the one who choose some of them.

Going back to my puberty, the refuge where I was going to drown my sorrows was my room, which had become my sanctuary; in that case a "literary sanctuary". Already in the comfort of my sanctuary I lay in bed and began the adventure, the journey through the imaginary.

The book I had in my hands was by the Russian writer Leo Tolstoy, it contained the author's biography and a summary of his work; when I finished reading his biography, and discovered that he had lost his mother at the age of two, and his father at the age of nine, I felt great admiration for everything he had achieved throughout his life; and that was how I began to read with great interest War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy.

In my opinion War and Peace is a fascinating novel, with a very varied storytelling; it is a mixture between history and imagination; it is a highly descriptive book, the main scenario of the events take place in Saint Petersburg, Russia; Tolstoy throughout the novel takes us to different scenarios all across Saint Petersburg, like halls, palaces, battlefields, prisons; making us feel as if we were really in those places.

Leo Tolstoy tells us the story of the alliances and wars between Russia and France at the beginning of the nineteenth century; the real war conflict that took place in 1805 in Europe due to the incursion of Napoleon Bonaparte's troops and its subsequent conquest; and he mixes it with real and imaginary characters in a brilliant way.

Even if War and Peace narrates a war conflict, it is not only based on it, it is also a novel who spans humanistic and social spectrum, where readers will often feel identified with the characters and the internal and spiritual struggles they are going through; or identified by the personal conflicts between the different protagonists, whether for love, family disputes for money or other tragedies.

The novel is about loving and lack of love; it narrates how some loves grow stronger, others bloom, and many others fade away due to different circumstances, caused by the war in which fate manage many of its protagonists as simple puppets.

At the time I read this book, I remember that there were many words and concepts that I did not understand, because of my age, so I appealed to the dictionary and my mother to clear up doubts, and have a better understanding of the novel.
