The more I thought about the good things people do, the more I've come to realize how many times I made someones day brighter. Just last Thursday during break, a couple coworkers were talking about what they like to order, and which restaurant.
One was talking about a mac/cheese bowl from AppleBees, that her daughter loves.
Well, it happened to be my anniversary at work, and one of the gifts I received was an AppleBee card. I handed it to her and said "here, take your daughter out to lunch, or dinner". She handed it back, and said she can't accept it because it was my anniversary. After I said I would love for her to have it, and that I don't really go out to eat much, did she accept it back. I told her I wanted her to be able to take her daughter out to eat (she doesn't get to see her everyday).
Even on what was meant to be a special day for me, I will still give to others. Unbeknownst to me, I ended up actually having 2-3 more. I was given a bunch of various cards, so was not aware :-) . Even if I am struggling to make myself a lunch, I will give my small lunch to someone else that is hungry. I know from personal experience, what being hungry feels like.
