Flip the switch,
call it good.
Never mind patching,
like true love should.
We held our ground,
where we stood.
No matter who's right,
nor who's wrong.
What's the use,
if we can't get along.
Most find it easy just to leave.
Forgetting the feelings
they once had believed.
It's not less painful,
to let things go.
talk to each other,
and let old memories flow.

I hear all the time about the struggles that couples endure, and have also had my share. It seems the easiest way out is to walk away. Talking things over doesn't always work, when both are stubborn as mules. My heart is happy for an elderly couple I personally know, who just celebrated 65 yrs together. I don't know how many can say they lasted half that. I'm sure they had their issues, like many couples, but they found a way to keep the fire in their hearts from totally vanquishing.
If those of you reading my post, have disagreements with your loved one, just try to find some way to work through it together. In the end, it builds a stronger bond.
Thank you for reading my poem and post.
