I get a lot of remarks from people who come very close to me that I am the stubborn type and I agree with them because now that I think about it, I can be very stubborn for what I know is right and even for the ones I feel should be right even when others feel otherwise. Now I understand that everybody has different opinions to things.
Forcing my opinions or being influenced by others opinions is not right but it's very okay to share opinions just in case it will save another their time or energy or money in any way. Opinions have caused problems for people, especially the stubborn ones because people think their opinions should be taken seriously.
In my years of living and in different experiences, I can be very stubborn with some things. Not that I am stubborn in actual sense but that's the tag I get from people when I don't go with their opinions because they expect that I take whatever comes out of their thoughts forgetting that I am independent of the conclusions I take.
For the prompt, I do have two instances where one, I got stubborn about something and it paid off for me and also the time I got stubborn and I paid for it. Life can be funny sometimes, you become sure of something forgetting that life has its own plans and it could go against you or not. It's why plans fail a lot of the time in life.
Years ago, I was very stubborn about something very personal to me. I won't share what it is exactly but it required me interacting with people who expected me to give in easily but I kept saying NO like my life dependent on it. The funny thing was, I didn't even have enough idea or reason I was being stubborn about that decision.
I just found myself going against all expectations towards me regarding it until today and it's still paying for me, I can not even emphasize enough how much I am enjoying the fruits of being stubborn about it until this day. Thankfully, I have stronger reasons I am stubborn and it makes it more easier, gives me confidence when I say No.
But on the other hand, I got stubborn about a lot of things that didn't turn out well for me. There are many of them that I can not even remember one at the moment except I'll mention being stubborn about studying too hard about major exams I had written in the past. Up till this day, I still wish I had studied harder, that I did better.
But it's not out of a place of regret but resolution to do better in future endeavours, especially when it requires me to do my best. I have come to understand more about the saying, "What's worth doing is worth doing well" and being stubborn about my studies and a few other things have taught me this lesson the hard way.
