Introduction

Hi everyone, @LivingUKTaiwan here with the weekend edition of the #TravelDigest. The Pinmapple Thousand contest is finished today!!! Thanks to everyone for your support. We've had had so many entries to both the raffle and the two writing contests that it's going to take us some time to go through everything. Hopefully, we will be able to announce the results in the next ten days.

In the meanwhile let's take a look at today's posts curated by Pinmapple. The Top 3 includes a Polish named mountain in Australia, a metropolitan park in Greece, and a Roman temple in Portugal. How's that for globalisaion _

All featured posts are visible on the Editors Choice Map and upvoted by pinmapple@pinmapple, blocktrades@blocktrades, theycallmedan@theycallmedan and the curation trail. For more travel digests check out #traveldigest.

Our winners today 馃崓

馃 Australia's highest Peak, Mount Kosciuszko by melbourneswest@melbourneswest

There used to be a road that you could drive right to the summit and see the views. However it was eventually closed to the public and it's a 7km walk from the car park. (Australian terrain isn't that bad everything is flat here, like I said. If you can handle the heat you can go anywhere)This area is also home to Australia's highest public toilet which was built in 2007 due to the increase in patrons and the increasing amount of defecation being dropped all over the place.I don't know why there wasn't a toilet sooner? We're an odd bunch in Australia.

馃 Antonis Tritsis Metropolitan Park by filotasriza3@filotasriza3

In Greece, we say that every rock has its history so the park has a few stories to tell. A little after the Greek independence (1821), a Greek rich guy bought about 300 acres of where the park is and sold it to 2 Englishmen who used it as a farm and after a while sold it as well!in 1848 Amalie von Oldenburg or queen Amalia of Greece liked the place and bought it. They extended to 2500 acres and had multiple trees, animals, and workers. It became a model center for Agriculture and Livestock and the queen even built a mansion there.

馃 Trip to Roman Temple - 脡vora | Portugal by aleister@aleister

As well as some of the temples, monasteries and monuments that i have already had the opportunity to share here, this one also has undergone a variety of practical uses over time, having served as a strong house for the castle in the city of 脡vora and even as a municipal slaughterhouse, Yeap, that's crazy, can you imagine? a slaughterhouse in this place?
