Would you believe me if I told you that I have found a legendary banga? Yes, I found it when I traveled going to Malaybalay City, Bukidnon on a weekend. And it is exactly located at Talungkako, Poblacion Impasugong, Bukidnon.
Traveling to Bukidnon is always a breathtaking experience not only for its lush scenery, and green landscapes but as well as with its vibrant culture. I must say that visiting my home, Bukidnon is very worth it.
The road going here is winding and full of serenity since it is an old road and at present, only a few vehicles are passing by since the main new road is used for all types of vehicles. You will know you are near the site because of a small bridge just before its location.
One proof that the road was so peaceful was taking a picture in the middle of the road without worries that any type of vehicle might bump me. I got stolen shots and I also had a candid pose near the bridge.
A long time ago, buses from Cagayan De Oro City passed by on the roadside of the Banga going to the Southern part of Bukidnon and other nearby provinces just before the banga became a tourist attraction.
“Banga” is a Filipino term that means an earthen jar or a water jug that is made out of baked pieces of clay. In the old days, this is the type of water jar that many Filipinos were using for clay was the main raw material for any wares found at home.
I have captured the frame facts at the site and I was delighted when I have known pieces of revelation about Bukidnon's history. It was said that the earthen jar was made by a Filipino foreman in 1939 when the Japanese came to the Philippines.
As I arrived at the place, I had many wonders since it was built more than eighty years had passed. However, I have horrible thoughts about supernatural existence.
The Banga was built in 1939 as engraved on its structural foundation. It was believed that the original banga was destroyed by treasure hunters.
When I visited there, many people were talking about how and why it was destroyed. The treasure hunters intended to get the gold bars inside it. According to my grandmother, stories had been passed from generation to the next generations that the hunters had got bars of gold.
Not only destroyed but the broken pieces of the Banga were even taken. And not only the original banga was destroyed but as well as its second replica. I am saying that it is legendary since it had withstood through thick and thin since the Japanese occupation.
With so much curiosity about the water inside the banga. I touched it and tried to taste it.
The water was crystal clear and indeed cold, and I must say that it was very fresh to drink, unlike the processed mineral water that I am buying in a plastic bottle.
After many years, “The Banga” was then declared a Heritage Site in the province of Bukidnon.
Many stories about it are why I call it a legendary and magical banga. But did you know that there is real magic with it?
The water inside the Banga is pure and natural mineral water and that makes it magical and legendary.
Aside from its pure and natural mineral water, it is also an area intended as a resting place for travelers.
The Banga is surrounded by bamboo and rainforest trees. There are also cement tables and chairs that serve as a waiting area or a waiting shed for any tourist or traveler that comes here.
So if you happen to travel here in Bukidnon, never miss the opportunity of going here. You may have heard about the famous attraction that is the Lover’s Lane.
Feel and taste the fresh and pure mineral water that this banga offers for free to everyone!
I have tasted its natural taste and it quenched my thirst as it is a very hot season here in the Philippines.
Besides, it always feels so good to taste any form that is pure and natural and in fact, water from the Banga is one.
Whether you are native to Bukidnon or even a traveler, you could always go here. There are even many tourist attractions nearby that you could just have even for a quick drop.
I went forth to Malaybalay City after to experience the Kaamulan adventures as I was eating my favorite pretzels. Happy National Pretzel Day!
And I never left the site without a single pose beside the bridge.
Even when we left, there were no traces of vehicles that passed by the roads near the Banga. The provincial heritage site is full of serenity that made me relaxed for a while with its cool waters even without being placed inside the fridge.
After going to Lover’s Lane, you could get here by any type of vehicle. And it is also near famous New Zealand in Bukidnon, the communal ranch that is also located at the heart of Impsugong, Bukidnon.
Perhaps there are more scenic views to look for here in Bukidnon, my home. Never miss the chance to have a glimpse and taste of pure mineral water that offers a healthy drink to quench your thirst. Come and visit the Banga here at Bukidnon!
