Love died in our eyes,
in the dark whisper of the silent afternoon,
In the forgotten caresses, the touch is a memory,
our hands no longer search, they feel in fear;
the nights we dreamed of, full of passion,
today they are empty shadows, they ooze disillusionment.
Gone are the illusions like leaves in the river,
floating slowly, carried by the cold.
The dreams we forged, as sweet as the sun,
are turned to ashes, enclosed in my pain.
You are no longer my mistress, nor am I your king,
the chains of the past are broken in a ‘no hay.’
I slide your silhouette like sand between my fingers,
and in solitude I find my deepest entanglements.
Love died on us, in a deep silence,
in the distance that screams, in this aimless goodbye;
we remain two strangers, in the echo of a ‘maybe,’
navigating in the shadows of a yesterday that was.
