Hello everyone, I am going to run back through the 2017 season from the beginning to end showcasing the process at Pickens Mountain from field preparation, planting, growing, harvesting and drying. This post will show how we prepare our planting sites and get the plants in the ground for the season. The method I utilize is to Auger holes in the ground for every plant and fill the holes with premium soil and native soil mix. We usually begin planting around the first week of may and usually continuing to plant well into june. Pickens Mountain Cannabis is a tier three terraced farm on the side of Pickens Mountain. We have four growing areas: bottom, middle, top level and down the sides. The farm is irrigated by gravity-fed water tanks which are filled by a propane powered generator and well pump which fills large-capacity water storage tanks up on the mountain side. The tanks gravity feed to the Garden sites which are controlled by water timers and separated into patches. The water timers are staggered so each patch gets water at a separate time. They are usually 30-60 watering times twice a day. We use 1/2" irrigation tubing and 1-2 gallon per hour drippers.
