The Human v The Smartphone

"I want to make a phone that people love." - Steve Jobs

The iPhone X is $1000?

The day has come where materialism has triumphed over human reason. As Apple decided to market their 10th Anniversary smartphone - the iPhone X - the media and public alike were both skeptical. People were scratching their heads thinking,"Who on earth would pay $1000 for a phone?". Well, as the iPhone X was released on 3rd November, those Apple enthusiasts had already set up camp outside the Apple stores 2 weeks before, just to be the first ones to purchase the phone. Does this sound normal to you?

What new features?

For those that were duped into purchasing an iPhone X, you would have had to been hypnotized by the iPhone X presentation, where they mislead you into thinking it's a better phone than it's predecessor. Many notable commentators argued that the iPhone X's specifications are the same as a Samsung Galaxy S6, which was released 2 years ago in 2015. So basically your paying $1000 for hardware that's already outdated.

What the average consumer needs to realize is that the reason why Apple is the most valuable company in the world isn't because they make great products, it's because they great at marketing.

Smartphone, the new drug?

As people become more dependent on their smartphones, it's no surprise that companies like Apple have the audacity to price their iPhone's at $1000. Why? Because the smartphone has become our drug. We need it to communicate, to watch TV, to pay for food...we need it for "literally" everything!
