Have you checked the internet lately? It's been buzzing with the news of the iPhone 18 series release. Except I have memory issues, but didn't it just feel like yesterday that the iPhone 17 series were actually released?
It felt like it's not even been up to two months. Oppps it's been over a year already. I think it's honestly diabolical what a lot of phone brands are actually doing.
Imagine paying 1300$ for one model and they don't even let you use it properly and they're releasing another model few months later, they slapped a few shiny but cosmetic features, repackage the entire phone and expect people to ditch the models they have bought a few months ago to buy the latest models going for 1500$ to 1900$.
The average person ago spends these amounts are supposed to actually use these phones for 4 to 5 years, because obviously it's a lot of money to spend.
So my question is, since no sane person is expected to use a 1500$ phone for only one year, why can't they take 2 or or 3 years before releasing a new model?
This isn't even because of the money alone. Let's look at it this way. Creativity is a very difficult thing to do, and iPhone as a company is not exempted from this. I honestly don't care if there's anything they have the best brand developers in the world or they best product designers.
I think no matter what, the innovative for mobile phones have topped, it's no longer 2018, where there are crazy things to add that makes great sense.
Recently Samsung added features like privacy screen, iPhone added dynamic island and a few other things while basically falling to addressing the difference elephants in their rooms.
Samsung at the moment is ridiculously overpriced, they have a hardware problem, and they've failed to address this.
The elephant in the room
The quality of their hardware is why iPhone seems to have an edge, but even though they can actually improve their hardware which basically improves the resell value and automatically makes the camera systems better, they've instead added crazy cosmetics features will keeping the model the same from the s25 series which of course still remains the iPhone with the best value for money.
IPhone's ecosystem on the other hand, is quite limited in it's accessibilities.
Before you say I've only used androids. I'd like to let you know that I've used both phones and the iPhone have been very limiting. Except you're probably just a users who doesn't really need accessibility and easy of usage, then iPhone is your best best.
Create FOMO, sell Hype with no innovation
Overall these two companies have created a space where they've tapped into the FOMO of their cultist fans to cash out massively.
This time iPhone has even copied the foldable concepts you'll see on iPhone brands, and they're selling this as the big "upgrade". Again, this is only a "build" addition and cannot count as an innovative.
Android have been building foldables for a very long time, infact foldables are only for a selected audience, maybe for people in their 40s or 50s, and never for the general audience.
The generation population most likely don't buy foldables, and iPhones finally selling foldable as a concept while getting iPhone users crazy is one of the most diabolical things ever. So it's that time of the year where iPhone fan boys are basically starting the "ohh iPhone is the GOAT" discussion.
I got on twitter and that's all I've seen for the past few days just because iPhone released a foldable. It's another year to ignore the obvious thing which is that these companies are packaging old stuff and only adding a few cosmetics features while cashing out every year.
Of course, they always depend on their passionate fan base to sell their stuff, and I'm probably the least of person to get caught up in these shenanigans.
So will you be buying a iPhone foldable, let's say you have the money? Because if you're not buying the foldable, it's pretty much the same old iPhone 17 packaged into a new titanium body.
