I have seen today an article about the decreasing number of daily posts published on the STEEM blockchain. It was written by 
In general, I agree with the author that we can't blame the last hard fork for a lower number of posts, but we have to admit that it played its role. But, as we have free downvotes on the #NewSTEEM (and a lot of the people use them in a good way), a lot of SPAM content has been downvoted and I suppose that some of the creators stopped to publishing them. So, that can be another reason for less content...
And also, I agree that probably the main factor is actually the price of STEEM... As the price is going down, those values at the end of your posts are smaller and smaller and it can be very demotivating... A lot of creators are waiting to price go up to start building again...
Maybe just two years ago, I was doing the same mistake... When the price of coins went up, I would buy them... When the price goes down, I would sell them... or HODL them... I was "accumulating" coins when the price was going up?!?! I wouldn't call that accumulation... It's more like throwing the money through the window... lol
So, don't be me from the past. :) NOW is the time for creating content and for accumulating STEEM and Tribe tokens... Accumulating has a sense when the price is low...
And regarding content creation... A lot of big content creators have stopped building content, or they are doing it more rarely... NOW is your moment to fill those holes in the content!
Less content on the STEEM > less competency > better visibility > more upvotes
