I am not very experienced in photographing the night sky. How would I be since I live in by far the most light polluted area in the world?

But since I was now in Mallorca I thought it would be a good idea to find a dark spot and try. Quite incredibly it was next to a light house that we found the darkest spot (thinking about it, it makes sense since you wouldn't put much street lights near a light house in order to make it more visible from afar in the sea.)

While these photo's have nothing to do with the sometimes excellent Milky way photo's you sometimes see, I am still quite happy with how they turned out. There was still some light pollution and their was also haze in the sky (the yellow band you see above the sea.) Anyway, this is by far less light polluted than you will find anywhere in Belgium. Mission accomplished. Next year I go to the Canary Islands - there I should be able to make great night sky photo's...
