It's painful that he disappointed everyone. He was the only child, they believed in him. The family sold everything to sponsor him and train him to school.
But he went to live a bad life, doing drugs, joining bad gangs and committing all sorts of crime. He was inspired and everyone in the family was in pain. They could not believe their eyes.
All the investment is gone, nothing to show for it. So he didn't make anyone proud. He didn't bring anything to show.
This is an experience that's not value for money. He was not valuable to the family.
