Greetings, everyone!
Sex education is one of the essential parts of homeschooling done by the parents. And it's very important for child upbringing. I grew up with my parents but they didn't teach me sex education in a proper way instead, my mother would always shout at me when I was playing with the opposite sex, or when she saw me using her small phone to call my church mother, she would open her eyes for me, telling me to go and read my books. Because of this lack of sex education, I wasn't able to understand or navigate the route of this sex education, which would have ruined my life, but God helped me. I remember my Sunday teacher emphasizing that "my body is the temple of God" and that nobody should tamper with it. This phrase kept ringing in my ears and heart till the point of rejecting every young man who came my way to ask for a girlfriend. I kept saying no, because of this phrase till I finished my secondary school education. My Sunday school teacher is of blessed memory but till now I still remember those phrases.
As parents, the right time to start teaching or talking about sex education is at the age of 3 years old, teaching them the right names for body parts. Touching those parts and mentioning their names and emphasizing that some parts are private and nobody should touch them. Teaching them the right sitting position as a girl and to dress appropriately as a girl.
However, as they grow older to become big boys and girls, you teach them personal boundaries, how to set boundaries, and how to say no. You teach personal hygiene. Then, at the puberty stage, explain the changes in emotional and physical aspects that will occur in their bodies, including menstruation and wet dreams. Explain deeply with pictures and with wisdom too. Don't teach them in such a way that will cause them to go and experiment with it. Teach them with wisdom and understanding, and as parents, be your children's best friend so they can communicate with you any time freely. Don't act or speak in such a way that will scare your children away from you. And don't let them share their secret with others outside of you. You should be their neat teacher, friend at home for easy learning, and be open for your children to ask questions.
Be open to your children.
