Greetings, everyone!
From the onset, charity was meant to come from a genuine heart for the downtrodden in every nook and cranny of the world. There are people in need of help and these kinds of people don't need to know whether the giver is doing so out of popularity or influence; what they need to do is to get the help and be satisfied with what they received with joy and happiness. When charity becomes clout chasing, the blessings of the giver become distorted because it's not coming from the genuine heart but a heart of public recognition. This act is hypocritical, just to be seen by people on the street or on social media platforms.
Scripturally, this person is not blessed because he is doing it for popularity. It's like a noise in the kingdom and it's nothing to God. It would have been better to come from a genuine heart to God's blessings and greater height.
To me, if this kind of offer comes to me, I wouldn't deny it, I will collect it, if it's something I was desperate for and thank God, but I pity my giver, if he does it for clout sake, that's his cup of tea.
I could recall when I was serving as a corps member, I joined a charity CDS which I was willing and excited to contribute to the charity organization and at the end of the month, we went on groups, to orphanage homes, hospital, school to share what we have and they prayed for us and they were so excited to get books, pen, pencils, and many more for the pupils.
The work of charity is not for public recognition. It's to bless lives and impact lives through your money or gift to those who are in need.
