I always find videos of people using their act of charity to chase clout in the media disturbing, they just video people without considering how they feel and, of course, these people are too desperate for help and are left with no other option but to act accordingly.
Most of them do this with the intention of gaining popularity, attracting more attention and chasing clout. Charity is now done on camera and not in private. I don't approve of this kind of intention, we could help people and still protect their identity. Charity shouldn't be done with the intention of chasing clout and showcasing the face of other people publicly, inasmuch as their act of charity is really impacting the lives of people positively, it's very important to protect their identity too.
Receiving help from people with questionable intentions can be quite complicated, because most people struggling don't even care about being filmed, because they really need the help, just imagine someone who is struggling, homeless, hungry, and even needs money to pay medical bills, they won't care about the givers intentions, but rather the givers compassion and kindness towards them, so they don't even care about the intention of the giver.
If I'm desperate, will their motive really matter to me? That's a difficult one to answer, maybe because I haven't found myself in a situation where I'm desperately in need and won't care about the intention of my helper.
I'm totally against this act though, but if content creation is the source of livelihood for the helper, then they should respect those they help too, by blurring their face if they don't wish to be seen by the public, that way you protect their image and still do what you intend to do, which is creating content.
I once watched a video of a mother and her children, homeless, and they were struggling to feed, and then a helper arrived, with a tripod, camera and even a crew to help her, what do you think she would place first? It's definitely the well-being of her and her kids, she can't chase help, she will hope her needs are being met first and won't care about the intention or even motive of the giver.
Most recipients don't care because they see this as an opportunity. What's meaningful here is that the needs of the mother and her children have been met, their circumstances have been improved and they face a better life.
A person in such a situation wouldn't want to show their principles, but if they aren't comfortable, they can communicate and be given some level of privacy, like blurring their face and that of their kids. I wouldn't advise the person receiving help to sacrifice an opportunity to survive, just to prove that he/she has principles.
However, I believe there's a difference between trying to help people and exploiting them. Charity should never become an excuse to humiliate less privileged people, expose their private struggles, or make them feel inferior, their hardship shouldn't be turned to entertainment, they should also be respected, their boundaries should be respected regardless of their situation.
In conclusion, I believe that people who are struggling and need help also deserve compassion, regardless of the motives of those offering help to them ,we should not romanticize suffering or expect desperate people who need help to reject opportunities simply to protect their pride.
