I recently started a new Skyrim campaign, this time with the goal of bringing all Dragonborn skills to the max (without resetting them) on the highest difficulty. So the first thing I did, because in my many experiences in TES V I learned that magic is the most complicated thing to improve, was to complete the College of Winterhold quests and then I decided that I would finish with the main story before doing anything else. It was then that, at the foot of High Hrothgar, after climbing the seven thousand steps for the millionth time, out of nowhere I asked myself the question for which I also decided to write this: Why do I always back to Skyrim?

I remember that the first time I played it (it was in 2012, if my memory serves me correctly) I hated it; or rather, it bored me. I created an avatar, escaped from Helgen while Alduin was turning it into rubble and wandered around the map for about an hour; I saw no point and put it aside. It wasn't until about 12 months later that I gave it another chance. This after seeing a video review from a moderately famous youtuber channel that year. I started a new game, to escape Helgen again, and ironically I loved that first mission and everything that came after.

Since then I have not been able to leave Skyrim, (nor have I wanted to, obviously). I completed all factions, played on all difficulties, know several of its easter eggs and other secrets, got all the weapons of the Daedric Princes, finished the main stories of its expansions which, I must admit, at the time revived my charm for this game by being fresh and new playable content. More recently I tried the new survival mode, which I particularly didn't like, and I plan to take my Dragonborn to its full potential (in terms of levels and perks) What I want to imply, in case it hasn't been clear, is that Skyrim is, by far, the video game I've devoted the most time to.

It seems stranger to me that I was never genuinely interested in other releases of The Elder Scrolls like Morrowind or Oblivion. My whole walk in this lore is because of Skyrim. I have even spent more hours in the lands of Tamriel than in all that I played the entire Halo saga (to put an object of comparison) which is one of my favorite sagas. This game impacted my life in its own way. I even decided that my member tag in Hive Gamming, community where these lines are meant to be published, should be Dovahkiin, as the protagonist of the masterpiece that is *Skyrim.

Desde entonces no he podido dejar Skyrim, (tampoco he querido, obviamente).

I assume that part of the "guilt" that I always come back to play Skyrim, and always find it as wonderful as the first time, lies in part because of Fable and its expansion Fable: The Lost Chapters. That's another RPG that especially marked my childhood (and that I also completed about 20 times). So, in a way, the last of TES was like a mega Fable for me, with more opportunities to roam around, interact with NPCs and the environment, with many, many more quests and endless possibilities that, to this day, I haven't finished discovering.
