Continuing our streak of nostalgia for past-generation games, today I brought out my physical copy of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for the Xbox 360.

Yes, we are talking about the original, vanilla 2011 release. I honestly lost track of how many hours—or rather, weeks—I poured into this game back in the day. It felt like a world that simply never ended.

Opening up the case, the first thing that caught my attention was the surprisingly thick manual. It takes a considerable number of pages to break down all the core mechanics: alchemy, blacksmithing, cooking, magic, and combat. Even after all these years, reading through those pages reminds me of how deep and immersive those systems felt. It instantly brought back memories of my adventures across the region, from the cozy ambiance of buying and decorating my own houses to the tense fights inside ancient ruins and forgotten caves.

Of course, inside the box I found yet another promotional flyer for Prey 2... That makes three of them so far in my collection! They definitely poured a serious budget into marketing that game back then, haha.

However, my absolute favorite detail was the reversible cover art inside the sleeve. While the front features the iconic emblem and the back shows the standard game information, the interior facing the disc displays a breathtaking landscape. It depicts the Dragonborn standing atop a mountain peak, looking out over the snow-capped mountains, vast tundras, winding rivers, and open plains of Skyrim. I had to carefully slip the paper out just to photograph it, because it is truly a beautiful piece of art worth sharing.

Continuando con la nostalgia de juegos de generaciones pasadas, el día de hoy les traigo mi copia física de The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim para la Xbox 360.

Sí, la versión vanilla original de por allá del lejano 2011. Sinceramente no sé cuántas horas —o mejor dicho, semanas— le invertí a este título en su momento; era una aventura que simplemente sentías que nunca se acababa.

Al abrir el estuche, lo primero que me llamó la atención fue el manual impreso, el cual tiene un grosor de páginas bastante considerable. En él explicaban en detalle las mecánicas de alquimia, herrería, cocina, magia, combate y todas las posibilidades que ofrecía el mundo. A pesar de todos los años que han transcurrido, me sigue pareciendo una cantidad enorme de sistemas inmersivos que me hacen recordar todas las experiencias vividas: desde la calidez de comprar y equipar tus propias casas hasta los encarnizados combates en cuevas y mazmorras antiguas.

Además, dentro del estuche encontré otro folleto publicitario de Prey 2... ¡Este ya es el tercero que me topo en la colección! Definitivamente le invirtieron una buena suma a la publicidad de ese proyecto en su época, jajaja.

Finalmente, el detalle que más me fascinó fue la lámina decorativa reversible de la portada. Mientras que por fuera muestra el diseño clásico de la caja con la información del juego, el reverso que queda de cara al disco es una ilustración impresionante del Sangre de Dragón en la cima de una montaña, contemplando los picos nevados, las tundras, los ríos y los paisajes de la región de Skyrim. Tuve que sacar la carátula con cuidado para fotografiarla porque de verdad es hermosa y vale totalmente la pena compartirla por aquí.
