There is so much newness going on I don't know where to start. Newsteem is well underway and I started a much needed new chapter in my life.
Newsteem
How are you all feeling about newsteem now? I have noticed some really positive things. And I must admit, I am more impressed with the short term outcome than I thought I would be.
Steem needed to change and it looks like oldsteem is finally dead. What I have seen is more variety of content where the payouts are between $10-25. I am seeing creators I have not seen before in this range and I am seeing curators. I am seeing effort to re-create a positive community mindset and the buzz is contagious.
I like newsteem. I hope now we can attract back some of the amazing community leaders that we put off on the way here. With this new buzz, we will see new users, and we will need these very people to do what they are good at. I believe new accounts can succeed on newsteem, because curators are becoming more and more active. There is a drive to find good creators! Is that not what it's all about???
New Chapter
I started a new job this week. And it feels like such an amazing lease of life. For a long long time I have worked from home and it's been rather isolating. My life was very much kids, housey shit and then out to the office to work(which is just out the back garden). There would be days where I would have no adult company from one end of the day to another. When I worked for others in the past, I always felt appreciated, and valued. I could have intelligent conversations with people at my own level. Something I missed so much. Now I have a new job and it perfect.
The company is a US-listed company. They build power stations around the world. Major engineering works and major bucks! I worked with them in the past and stayed in touch with the friends I had made there. It's always nice to be friends with the bosses It's even better when they hire you back as a consultant :-)
When I worked for them before, they were listed in the top 10 largest privately owned Irish companies. I worked on the due diligence for the buyout and got them over the line. But I left before the final take over papers were signed.
Being a consultant, I retain the freedom of being self-employed. I start work around 9:30 and finished at 2 3 days and 5 the other 2 days. The plan is to work 1 week a month, 9:30 to 5, but for Sept, I will be working every week part-time. I am there to implement change in financial and management reporting. To help bring it all up to date and reinforce the message of compliance from the ground up.
After my first week, I feel great. I know it's going to be a hard balance because I will still be doing The Excel Club stuff and all the stuff for my publishers. So I will have to fit into 3 weeks what I was doing in 4. And for those 3 weeks, I will still be working around the kids. That means a split shift, I will get 5 hours done when they are in school. And when they go to bed, I will need to get another 3 hours done. Excel Club stuff = a bit steem stuff so that kills two birds with the one stone.
Oh and when I came home from work this week, do you know what I did (and what I am going to do now), I enjoyed chilling out and reading some content on new steem.
