Hola, hola, hola! ¿Qué tal están? Espero que muy bien, porque yo estoy de maravilla. Me llamo Paulo Jorge Betancourt Padrón, pero pueden llamarme Paulo, o Jorge. Soy un químico cubano de 26 años que trabaja como especialista en medio ambiente en la delegación del CITMA provincial de Artemisa. Nací en esta misma provincia el 26 de marzo de 1996, así que estoy a punto de cumplir años. ¡Acepto regalos en forma de nft! 🎁😂.

Jorge Betancourt Padrón, but you can call me Paulo, or Jorge. I am a Cuban chemist of 26
years old who works as an environmental specialist in the provincial delegation of CITMA in
Artemisa. I was born in this same province on March 26th, 1996, so I’m about to have a

Desde pequeño me apasionaron las ciencias y la tecnología. Fui un estudiante sobresaliente en todas mis etapas de estudio, participé en varios concursos y practiqué badminton en una escuela de deportes. Sí, badminton. Ese deporte que se juega con una raqueta y una especie de pelota con plumas. No se rían, es muy divertido y requiere mucha habilidad 🏸. El preuniversitario lo cursé en el IPVCE Mártires de Humboldt 7, una escuela para estudiantes talentosos donde tuve la oportunidad de conocer a muchos amigos y profesores excelentes. El 12 grado lo cursé en el Colegio Universitario de la Universidad de La Habana por Química, una carrera que siempre me gustó y me llamó la atención.

Since I was a child I was passionate about science and technology. I was an outstanding student in all my stages of study, participated in several contests and practiced badminton in a sports school. Yes, badminton. That sport that is played with a racket and a kind of ball with feathers. Don’t laugh, it’s very fun and requires a lot of skill 🏸. I attended high school at the IPVCE Mártires de Humboldt 7, a school for talented students where I had the opportunity to meet many friends and excellent teachers. I studied 12th grade at the University College of the University of Havana for Chemistry, a career that I always liked and caught my attention.

Después fui a la universidad a estudiar Licenciatura en Química en la Facultad de Química de la UH, donde aprendí mucho sobre esta ciencia tan fascinante y compleja. Me gradué en el 2020 con excelentes notas y una tesis sobre el desarrollo de un modelo de autómatas celulares para la modelación del crecimiento del cáncer avascular. Fue una experiencia muy enriquecedora y desafiante que me abrió muchas puertas.

Then I went to university to study Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry of the UH, where I learned a lot about this fascinating and complex science. I graduated in 2020 with excellent grades and a thesis on the development of a cellular automata model for the modeling of avascular cancer growth. It was a very rewarding and challenging experience that opened many doors for me.

Una vez graduado pasé el servicio social en el Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Cuba (CEA) por dos años como adiestrado, preparándome para el puesto de especialista e investigador del área de computación avanzada y alta tecnología. Allí tuve la oportunidad de trabajar con equipos de última generación y con profesionales muy capacitados. Aprendí mucho sobre programación, inteligencia artificial, simulación molecular, nanotecnología y otras áreas afines. También participé en varios proyectos nacionales e internacionales relacionados con estos temas.

After graduating, I spent the social service at the Center for Advanced Studies of Cuba (CEA) for two years as a trainee, preparing for the position of specialist and researcher in the area of advanced computing and high technology. There I had the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and highly trained professionals. I learned a lot about programming, artificial intelligence, molecular simulation, nanotechnology and other related areas. I also participated in several national and international projects related to these topics.

Después de concluido este periodo me vinculé laboralmente a mi actual trabajo en la delegación del CITMA como especialista en el departamento de medio ambiente. Allí me encargo de evaluar el impacto ambiental de las actividades económicas y sociales que se realizan en la provincia, así como de proponer medidas para mitigar o eliminar los efectos negativos sobre el entorno natural. También colaboro con otras instituciones y organizaciones que trabajan por la protección y conservación del medio ambiente.

After this period, I joined my current job at the CITMA delegation as a specialist in the environmental department. There I am in charge of evaluating the environmental impact of the economic and social activities that take place in the province, as well as proposing measures to mitigate or eliminate the negative effects on the natural environment. I also collaborate with other institutions and organizations that work for the protection and conservation of the environment.

Pero no todo es trabajo en mi vida. También tengo una familia que amo, compuesta por mis padres, mi hermano menor, mi abuela y mi actual pareja. Soy soltero pero con pareja, y espero algún día formar mi propia familia. Aunque no sé si estoy listo para tener hijos todavía. ¿Se imaginan tener que cambiar pañales y dar biberones? Yo prefiero cambiar códigos y dar likes. 😅

But work is not everything in my life. I also have a family that I love, composed of my parents, my younger brother, my grandmother and my current partner. I am single but with a partner, and I hope to someday start my own family. Although I don’t know if I’m ready to have children yet. Can you imagine having to change diapers and give bottles? I prefer to change codes and give likes. 😅

Además soy un apasionado de la programación, el deporte, las series los juegos, y la cultura japonesa. Me gusta crear y modificar códigos en Python. Con Python puedo hacer desde juegos hasta aplicaciones de inteligencia artificial, pasando por webs y scripts. Python es mi mejor amigo y mi peor enemigo, depende del día. Me divierto con los juegos como WoW, dota y algunos de cartas, y soy un cryptoentusiasta que le fascinan los nft. Me gusta el deporte, sobre todo el fútbol y el tenis. Soy fan del Real Madrid, el mejor equipo del mundo, y de Rafael Nadal, el mejor tenista de la historia. Me encanta ver los partidos y celebrar los triunfos, aunque a veces también sufro con las derrotas. Pero lo importante es participar y disfrutar del espectáculo. Me gustan las series, especialmente las de humor y ciencia ficción. Algunas de mis favoritas son Rick and Morty y The Big Bang Theory. Me río mucho con las aventuras de Rick y Morty por el multiverso y con las ocurrencias de Sheldon y sus amigos nerds. También aprendo cosas interesantes sobre física, química, biología y otras ciencias. Me gusta la cultura japonesa, sobre todo sus animes y mangas. Algunos de los que más me gustan son Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball y Death Note.

I am also passionate about programming, sports, series, games, and Japanese culture. I like to create and modify codes in Python. With Python I can do anything from games to artificial intelligence applications, through webs and scripts. Python is my best friend and my worst enemy, depending on the day. I have fun with games like WoW, dota and some card games, and I am a crypto enthusiast who is fascinated by nfts. I like sports, especially football and tennis. I am a fan of Real Madrid, the best team in the world, and Rafael Nadal, the best tennis player in history. I love watching the matches and celebrating the victories, although sometimes I also suffer with the defeats. But the important thing is to participate and enjoy the show. I like series, especially those of humor and science fiction. Some of my favorites are Rick and Morty and The Big Bang Theory. I laugh a lot with Rick and Morty's adventures through the multiverse and with Sheldon's and his nerd friends' occurrences. I also learn interesting things about physics, chemistry, biology and other sciences. I like Japanese culture, especially its animes and mangas. Some of the ones I like the most are Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball and Death Note.
