I've probably said this before, "I hate staycations!". Maybe hate ain’t the right word. I just despise the idea of spending money when I’m just in one place and there’s nothing else to do but eat, swim, perhaps read a book, and relax. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against staycation. It's just not my kind of fun. My kind of adventure has always been found on the road while riding the longest possible bus ride in the country. I can travel back in time when I traversed I locos Sur to Sagada via Cervantes; those were my happiest moments. But in 2020, COVID hit not just the Philippines but the world. We were all forced to temporarily shut down our doors, afraid of what was outside. Provinces in the Philippines had their own restrictions. I remember there was a time when Davao was very strict in their travel requirements for tourists even locals coming in from other places outside of Davao.
That’s when staycations in hotels and room/house rentals via Airbnb became a thing. Well, at least for me. 😅 On this particular staycation, I was invited by my boyfriend to join him and his friends. They were supposed to fly to Singapore by the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2020. I couldn't really remember the details! But yeah, COVID happened and the trip was cancelled. They used the travel fund to book two rooms for a weekend staycation in one of the hotels in Cebu City. It wasn't my first time in that hotel but it was my first time staying there overnight. I love their pools! There’s a very huge one and small ones for kids as well.
There were things I wouldn’t want to remember about this staycation but other than that, it was great actually. It was my first time meeting my boyfriend’s closest friends. We had fun taking a lot of photos, eating, swimming and resting in our ice-cold rooms! And the best thing about this trip is that since I'm just a joiner, I got it all for free! 😂Thank you guys! 😁
