In this week's Splinterlands Share Your Battle Challenge, we have been tasked to fight a match using Fire Spitter. Fire Spitter is an Epic, Dragon Splinter monster that combines high speed, a strong ranged attack, and the "Flying Ability" at level one. Just looking at the card, all I can see are advantages, and I think it will do well in this battle.

The Lineup

For this match, we were allotted 29 Mana points and the match had the "Melee Mayhem" ruleset which meant that Melee monsters could attack from any position. With those considerations in mind, I chose to use Drake of Arnak allied with the Fire Splinter and put Living Lava in first position. Living Lava is one of my favorite first position monsters because it has a very good attack, armor, health, and the "Shield" ability that helps it reduce damage from enemy melee and ranged attacks.

In second position, I put Molten Ogre. Normally Molten Ogre wouldn't be able to attack from second position, but thanks to this ruleset, he was able to fight from anywhere in my lineup. Since this was a "Melee Mayhem" match, I expected that my opponent would play a lot of melee monsters, and I wanted to use Molten Ogre to lower their attack value.

In third spot, I played Serpentine Soldier. This is a monster that I don't really use a lot, but I knew that the ruleset would allow him to attack from the middle of my formation. On top of that, Serpentine Soldier has good armor and health as well as the "Shield" ability to protect from melee and ranged attack's damage. I thought that putting him in front of Fire Spitter would be a good last stand measure to keep Fire Spitter from reaching the front lines where its ranged attack would become worthless.

Because Fire Spitter has a ranged attack, I wanted to make sure to put it in last position. My goal in this match was to protect Fire Spitter for as long as possible and allow him to use his ranged attack to slowly damage the opponent's monsters without taking any damage himself.

Results
As soon as I saw the opponent's lineup, I felt good about my team's chances for victory. Since melee monsters could attack from any position in this match, I was a bit confused why the opponent chose to play so many ranged and magic monsters. Although they did play a good team, I feel that it is best to always use the ruleset for the match to your advantage. In general, melee monsters have stronger attacks, armor, and health, so in the matches where they can attack from any position, I try to play as many melee monsters as possible. Obviously, I made an exception here so I could include Fire Spitter for the purposes of the challenge.

Fire Spitter Analysis

This was my first match with Fire Spitter, but I was impressed. He only costs 4 Mana to play, but he has good speed and a strong attack. In addition to those advantages he has 4 health and the "Flying" ability which gives him a higher chance of dodging attacks from monsters that can't fly. Overall, I really only have positive things to say about Fire Spitter. I don't know why I hadn't used him in matches before, but I plan on giving him a lot more playtime now that I have seen his advantages.
