Guess it is a kind of poetic title... but I'm not much of a poet (or at all!). Yet, posting these snapshots in a #monomad style seems the perfect way of remembering a place very dear to me, in which I spent countless youth days.

It was basically impossible to visit and not pass by this little stream, since it was on the way to where my grandparents had a little piece of land. Working on the fields was a (near) daily activity, as was watching the water flow by.

Almost absent during the Summer months, in the Winter this small waterfall is a wonder to contemplate. As it is the nature all around.

The time where I could spend days here chasing little critters and running in the fields has long gone, but although the visits are sparser and sparser, it always feels like home.

More and more the fields, once filled with crops, are left abandoned; unfortunately, a sign of times.

Fortunately, the sights haven't lost their beauty. Such as a misty mountain far in the horizon, as I walk the little road back to the main village.

Another thing that hasn't changed much? The birds.

It was here that I started doing my first birdwatching solo sessions, a hobbie I keep up to this date. Give me a pair of binoculars and I can spend the day exploring the countless roads, and rejoice with the different species that will come along. And these little guys will most likely be one of them.

The male stonechats are a novice birdwatcher's dream: not shy, perching in open spaces, very vocal, and with a distinctive colour pattern. And... they look cool in monochromes too! 🙂
