Who doesn't like earning crypto by doing what we already normally do on our day-to-day life?

I started using crypto cashback cards a couple years ago, with Crypto.com. I was fortunate enough to get in the early days, when CRO value was pretty low, and ended up getting the Jade card, that provided a ton of benefits such as full cashback on Netflix and Spotify, or 10% APY on the stacked CRO.

Bear market came, thow. And with it came a lot of not so positive measures, normally communicated in the worst way possible, such as the immediate termination of staking rewards (that were partially reverted after a huge backlash from the community), the reduction of card cashbacks, or more recently, the announcemente of the end of Netflix and Spotify rebates starting next year.

Although I still think Crypto.com is a good company, all these measures do make me think of alternatives; a company doesn't look too well on the picture when announcing insane sponsorships while cutting back on it's customer's perks. Besides, they do control all the funds; and given what happened to big companies in a not so distant past (remember Celsius?), you never know how safe are your funds, right?

So I started hearing about a new card called Plutus, and decided to look into it. It seemd almost too good, but the risk of joining in seems basically non existant. So, I jumped on the train, and today...

It finally arrived!

Why the excitement about?

Well, this card seems to have an insane amount of very atractive features:

  • Starts with a 3% cashback as a minimum! No investment needed at base tier, although you do need to top up your account with 20€ to order the card

In the lower tier you have a very small limit on the expenses where you can earn; but still, it's 3%! Besides, I can also combine this with my existing card, using it until I reach the expenses limit and then simply switching cards.

  • The cashback is given in their coin Pluton (PLU), that is currently trading at 9.79€. By staking PLU, you can unluck aditional advantages.

The perks refered on the images imply that you can get almost full cashback in a ton of different services, as Netflix, Spotify, Amazon prime, etc. The basic card already offers 1, but as you can see, anyone with 250 PLU stake can have 4 active perks at a given time!

But my favourite part, and one of the reasons that made me dive into the card?

  • They're non-custodial! This means you control your assets, which is HUGE for a crypto cashback card.

I haven't activated the card yet, and some more exploration is needed: I still haven't used their dex, and do want to confirm if the assests are really held in a non-custodial manner; and their app does need a ton of improvements too. For example, there's no way yo contact any kind of support in the app. I had to resort to their twitter! Truth be told, the support was quick and efficient, but still.

The card and the app do seem to have a lot of space to grow. But even if not everything seems perfect, a card with near zero initial investment, that offers 3% cashback, and with funds held in a non-custodial manner... totally deserves a try out!!

Anyone using Plutus out there? If there is, I would love to get some feedback!
