Man... I was missing this.
Holiday on a Monday equals a bigger weekend, and enough time for a quick getaway to my grandparents home town. With nature just a few meters away from the small village, and me craving for some nature contact, the first thing I did after waking up today was getting my camera, binoculars... and off I go!
I feel blessed everytime I can come back to this place, filled with good memories, and walk these trails again. The brooms were plentiful and in full bloom, their scent all around. Spring is probably the best time of the year for nature trails, given that everything is blooming and most wildlife is normally in breeding season; especially with birds, it seems the callings and general chirping is enhanced! I heard for the first time corn buntings here , and they were everywhere! The photos will have to wait until I get home, but I think I took a bunch of pretty decent shots.
Flora is easier to photograph with a smartphone; I downloaded an app to help with identifying the different species before I came, but either I'm dumb, the process is more complex than what I was hoping for... or I have to try a different app.
Fortunately, my grandfather taught me to identify the most common species, such as heathers and brooms.
The other plant photos I took will have to wait for a decent net connection or until I get home. Either way, no worries at all! Now it's time to enjoy some family time, watch ladybugs and admire waterfalls.
Funny how simple things can make you happy; for me, a walk in the woods, hearing mother nature's sounds, and filling the lungs with fresh air, is all it takes.
See you in a few days! 馃槈
