I'm most often found in nature that in a museum, that's for sure; I'm probably one of the least artistic persons I know, at least in what concerns paintings or sculptures. But this sunday afternoon was an exception; after all, it's good to try out new stuff, right?
There's an "immersive" experience on display in a cool building in Lisboa, called Reservatório da Mãe d´Agua; this building served as a reservoir and distribution point of the waters coming from Aqueduto das Águas Livres, Lisboa's main aqueduct. But I digress, because the immersive experience had nothing to do with the building itself; it was about one of the most famous spanish painters, Salvador Dali.
There are a couple of rooms with interactive experiences, and explanations about the different periods of Dali's work.
Even a VR experience, wich was actually pretty cool!
But the main attraction was inside the main building, the Reservatório itself.
Here, a video mapping show, with around 30 minutes, was playing in loop. And the result was awesome!
The shape of the building adds a nice atmosphere, and the stone collumns and the ceiling serve as perfect canvas for the show; besides, as an extra bonus, the water also reflected the light show!
Interwined by some brief explanations again about the different phases of the artist's work, the snow was non-stop. Some of the images were easy to recognize even for someone like me, such as the twsited clocks and the strange elephants.
The show of lights and colours even displayed something that, if I understood correctly, was AI interpretation of Dali's work!
Pretty cool, right? If you're near the area and art is your thing, it will definitely be half an hour well spent! It's worth it, even if it's just for the videomapping part. 😉
