I’m here to share my walk from Wednesday, which gave me the chance to notice several things around the city. I want to start by saying that I stopped by a shopping mall for just a moment while I was waiting for the right time to pick up my son from school. Once inside the mall, I noticed a large “silleta” made of fresh flowers at the main entrance, bearing the mall’s name. This decoration is called a “silleta,” and it’s the centerpiece of the traditional Flower Festival held every year in Medellín, which ended last Sunday, August 9. However, the decorations remain in the city until the flowers wilt, at which point they’re removed.

The reason I enjoyed seeing this “silleta” was because this year I wasn’t able to attend any of the parades or activities at the festival. I usually go mainly for my youngest son, but I’ll have to wait until next year, God willing. So, I took the opportunity to enjoy looking at that “silleta” and took some photos to share with you all on hive.

I went into the mall to find a seat, and everything was decorated in the spirit of the flower fair. I was impressed to see how durable the flowers are and that the decorations still looked beautiful, considering they must have been on display for almost a month.

I spent a short time at the mall and then went to my son's school, and we walked home together from there. I saw a small but lush garden plant called “Corona de Cristo” with little red flowers; this type of plant is always in bloom, and it looked really nice tucked inside a black trellis.

As we continued on our way, we saw a truly impressive-looking tree. Judge for yourselves. Nature really is amazing.

And people do amazing things, too, because they make sure the trees don't cause problems in the city, and sometimes they have to prune them—and they also make use of the wood.

This walk was a bit long, but I had the chance to see and take photos of things that caught my eye so I could share them here on Hive, in the Wednesday Walks community.

¡Saludos y abrazos!
Les vengo a compartir mi paseo del miércoles el cual me permitió observar varias cosas en la ciudad. Quiero empezar por decir que pasé solo un momento por un centro comercial mientras se hacía la hora de ir por mi hijo al colegio. Una vez en el centro comercial me llamó la atención que en la puerta principal estaba una gran silleta de flores naturales con el nombre del centro comercial. A este adorno se le llama silleta, que es la protagonista de la tradicional Feria de las Flores que se celebra cada año en Medellín, la cual finalizó el pasado domingo 9 de agosto. Sin embargo, los adornos permanecen en la ciudad hasta que las flores se deterioran y luego son retirados.
La razón por la que me gustó ver esta silleta de flores es porque este año no pude ir a ningún desfile ni a una de las actividades de la feria. Me gusta ir principalmente por mi hijo menor, pero ya será el próximo año, si Dios quiere. Entonces, aproveché el momento para disfrutar viendo esa silleta y le tomé fotos para mostrárselas a ustedes en hive.


Entré al centro comercial para buscar un asiento y todo estaba adornado alusivo a la feria de las flores. Me gustó ver que las flores son tan resistentes y los adornos aún estaban bonitos, considerando que deben tener casi un mes exhibidas.


Estuve poco tiempo en el centro comercial y me fui al colegio de mi hijo, para luego seguir juntos el camino para la casa. Vi una pequeña pero frondosa planta de jardín llamada Corona de cristo de florecillas rojas, este tipo de planta siempre está floreada y metida entre una reja negra se veía muy bien.

Al seguir nuestro camino vimos un árbol de aspecto impresionante. Juzguen por ustedes mismo. La verdad es que la naturaleza es asombrosa.

Y también el ser humano hace cosas asombrosas, porque se ocupa de cuidar que los árboles no molesten en la ciudad y a veces hay que podarlos, aprovechando también la madera.

Este recorrido fue un poco largo, pero tuve la oportunidad de ver y tomar foto a lo que me llamó la atención para compartirlo aquí en hive, en la comunidad sobre paseos de los miércoles.
